Welcome to Monday, friends. I am still having such a hard time believing that Halloween is really tomorrow. I’d love to say that we are completely ready but that’s just not the case. I still need to sew a portion of my son’s costume and I can’t find it anywhere. He’s already in school and can’t lead me to it. Hmmm. Will be an interesting costume if I can’t fix it. More on that soon! Here’s a bit of what we have been up to in our Monday Morning Wrap-Up.
HALLOWEEN PREP
I LOVE shopping the stores last-minute for decor. It’s all 70% off! (picked these up at Michaels). Halloween has never been my number one favorite so it’s never fun spending a lot of money on the orange and black decor. Thought these were great and picked them up for just about $5. We are in party prep mode over here and the house looks like Halloween exploded. You can imagine how much I love that. LOL. All for the kids. All for the kids!
CANDY CORN RING TOSS
My friend Mari shared these on her Instagram and I thought it was brilliant so I had to copy her. I kept thinking, “How have I never ever thought of this?!” Candy Corn Ring Toss!!! You just need to tape of the entire portion of the cone you are not spray painting. I did the white tops first and let it dry completely. Then taped of the bottom and wrapped paper around the top so the yellow wouldn’t get on any other part of the cone. Done and done.
I am sure they will chip as the rings get tossed but it’s the overall look that is so cute. It only needs to last for one night. It would be daring to paint a bunch of them and line your front walk with them. My wheels are turning now!
EASY DIY COSTUME
If you happen to be looking for a last minute costume, this can work for any age. My son decided he wanted to be a bank robber. I think it was more that he can carry a pillow case. We still need to paint a large black $ on the pillow case. In any event, we already had the pants but I picked up all of this at Walmart for around $15. I do have a disclaimer! The shirt was only $3 but it has pink writing on it! Ha! So I bought two of them and am cutting one apart and gluing a section of stripes over the writing. He will wear it backwards and no one will ever know the difference. After all, it is dark when we trick or treat! Now if I could only find locate the second shirt so I can begin working on it!
Walmart also had black shoes for $15! If you don’t want to deal with fixing the shirt last minute, you can grab a women’s black and white striped long sleeve t-shirt from Target.
SOUP ON SUNDAY
We wrapped up the weekend with Sunday Supper at my sister’s house. It was so fun to get together and just relax for a bit. Her home is absolutely gorgeous. I snuck this photo of her serving up delicious soup. It was perfect for our first chilly Fall night.
Of course we had to throw in some football. It was a house divided with Steelers and Lions fans but so much fun to have this crew together. My parents were also there to enjoy dinner with us. A nice way to kick off the week.
PANTRY UPDATE
If you follow along on Instagram, you may have seen this sneak peek of our butler’s pantry. You can’t begin to imagine how thrilled we are to be to this point. It is far from finished as we still need to install hardware, upper cabinets and some shelving. BUT this is huge progress and a great stopping place so we can enjoy Halloween and relax for a bit. I will be doing a full post on the shiplap we used very soon. I know many of you have been asking. I also received a ton of messages on DM about our flooring. It can be found here! We are obsessed with it. It’s the little bit of gray in it that makes me so happy. It ties in perfectly with the cabinets.
Here’s a recap of my original plan so it’s falling into place nicely. I still need to order the cabinet hardware.
SWEATER WEATHER
And at long last we have sweater weather!!!! I tried on so many sweaters lately and this was a favorite. I love the raw edge and the pretty creamy color. I am wearing an XS. The jeans happen to be on sale right now, too!
Ok! I have a to-do list a mile long and the kids are out early this week due to conferences so this mama needs to get moving! I hope you all have a great Monday. Let’s so this!

Love the Halloween prep! The bank robber Halloween costume is super cute and so fun. I will have to tuck that away for a future idea. I love the ones that are so recognizable, but are still really easy to pull together inexpensively.

I agree with you! I love when they are so recognizable but simple. I need to get going on his trick or treat bag. Time is ticking. LOL. Have a great week. xo

Wow, your sister’s home is beautiful! I’m in love with that kitchen. Chili on a fall night surrounded by family sounds like my ideal type of weekend night!

I’m so happy we’re getting sweater weather in SoCal! We were at Disney yesterday and we needed sweatshirts with our shorts 🙂 Have a fun Halloween!

That’s a great costume! Hope you were able to locate the 2nd shirt. Your pantry looks fabulous Courtney and Ryan. I think it was a true labor of love. I have to say nothing beats a family gathering. Family is the best.

What a great pantry! I’m currently looking for a similar pendant- would you please provide details about yours? It’s perfect! Thank you so much!

Hi! I am looking for a new sectional for our family room, and love the look of your sister’s. If possible, can you share where she got it?
Also, love the bank robber idea and candy cane cones/ring toss. So many pinnable photos in one post! Thanks so much for the inspiration. I really appreciate how fun (but still realistic and practical for busy mamas) they are!
