There’s no way it’s already Monday. This weekend flew by so quickly. We had big plans of knocking out a project or two and fell far short. But we did fit in some really nice family time and that trumps projects any day. Here is a look at life lately with our Monday Morning Warp-Up.
HOMEGROWN
This!!!!! I know this looks like a simple watermelon to you. And it is. But it’s a watermelon my son grew and this baby took one year. I felt like we needed special music and a cutting ceremony to commemorate this accomplishment. My poor son was so nervous to cut into it (he did the honors) to see if it was indeed red and ripe. Watermelon perfection. Juicy and the perfect sweetness. Let’s just say we will never look at watermelons in the market the same way. Our appreciation for them is through the roof.
CONCERT IN THE PARK
Every Friday night our neighborhood has live music in the park. It’s such a nice way for families to be out in the fresh air, enjoy local artists and appreciate life. Lauren Black is one of our very favorite artists so it was such a treat to listen to her sing. You can find her on IG here (@laurenblackmusic).
So thankful for this guy. He continues to amaze me with his dedication to family and his unconditional love. Plus he makes me laugh like nobody else and that is good for the soul.
POKE BOWL NIGHT
We traded in Friday Pizza night for Poke Bowl night and you won’t be hearing any complaints from me. Might be one of my favorite dinners ever.
GOD’S ARTWORK
Our daughter snapped this over the weekend and I had to share. The sunset looked just like a painting. These beautiful sunsets always remind my of my dad. God’s artwork is something to behold.
DATE NIGHT
We hit up our favorite spot Saturday night. Scarlet Kitchen and Lounge makes the best lobster grilled cheese ever. We are definitely creatures of habit and right now the grilled cheese and kale salad have our hearts. If you are local, it’s a really great spot to support. They have a nice sized patio and live music, too.
THOUGHTS ON PARENTING
My friend Shalice posted this over the weekend and every word of it spoke to me. As soon as I read it I could picture my children as toddlers. It all goes by so darn fast. It’s challenging and painful and beautiful and life-giving. To all of the moms out there pulling their hair out, I hope today brings some of the joy. It flies by. It truly does.

Great post! Children do indeed grow up fast. My own 2 daughters are now moms themselves each with 2 kids. They’re wonderful moms and you are too. Enjoy these precious times.

Loved the mom verse. I just shared it with one of my former students I taught when she was in second grade. She is now a mom herself to two amazing boys that are 2 and 6 months. And SURPRISE, baby boy #3 is coming in March. As a mom who once had 5 kids under the age of 5 (my youngest are triplets) I know she has some busy days ahead. However, I hope she cherishes the little things right now because time will go fast. I now have 5 teenagers and wish I could go back in time and see them small again. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! Kudos to you liz. I had 3 under 4 and thought that was tough and with a hubby who was overseas for a year. But I would go back there in a heartbeat just to have them curl up on my lap for a cuddle!

Such a beautiful sunset! Thanks for sharing.

I always look forward to your Monday morning posts ~ thanks for sharing the beautiful quote! Brings tears to my eyes as I deal with 3 teenagers and an almost 21 year old. Man did it fly by! I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Motherhood is the most special of gifts:)

Poke bowl! Was that homemade? Care to share?
And yes, the idea that my children are growing so incredibly fast boggles my mind, terrifies me, and makes me excited for who they are becoming. Being a witness to children growing up is such an honor – whether a mom or not.
