Good morning. I hope you’ve enjoyed a long weekend with your people. Ours was a divide and conquer type of situation which is pretty typical these days. My boys are on their way home from five days in Minnesota (hockey tournament). Very thankful the sun is shining and we have beautiful blue skies today so a hike is in order. It always helps me clear my head and gives me energy for the day. Thanks for stopping in. Here is life lately with the Monday wrap up.
MORNING LIGHT
Speaking of sunshine, I am the girl that takes my laptop to whichever room has natural light pouring in. There is something so artistic the way it bounces off the walls and floors and I just love it. They say it’s the little things, and for me natural light is a gift. This room holds so many photos and treasures from loved ones so it’s an easy room to spend time in. The floral pillow ($18) is an Amazon find and our rug has been a favorite from day one. The bench is McGee and Co. but no longer sold.
SALAD TWEAKS
Big Bites is hands down the best cookbook I’ve bought in a long time. We have loved every recipe so far. This Kale salad holds up well in the fridge throughout the week so it’s been a go-to for my daughter’s school lunch. I made a couple of tweaks just to make it quick and easy (we forgo the nuts and chickpeas . . I add chicken) and it’s still fantastic. Because Kale is so substantial, you can toss the dressing into the salad and it stays great for days.
THE HERMITAGE HOTEL
A very dear friend of mine was in Nashville on business so we were able to meet for lunch before she headed back to California. If you are ever in the area, The Hermitage Hotel is a must. It is absolutely gorgeous. Such a special hotel that dates back to 1910 and the only hotel in Nashville to hold the distinction of National Historic Landmark. There is an upscale restaurant (Drusie and Darr) as well as the Pink Hermit which is more casual and great for lunch and breakfast.
THIS JUST IN
I hit up Anthro this weekend and they have so many darling pieces right now. This top being one of them. Really cute on. The striped one also caught my eye.
This striped sweater is a great find and on sale for under $40. So good for Spring.
WEEKEND BEST SELLER
The sale on these summer sandals ends today. They are now $30. I have them in black as well and highly recommend. They really do look much more expensive in person. Great for Spring and Summer.
And in case you missed it, I have a President’s Day sale post live (in lieu of Saturday Shopping). So many great sales.
WILLIAM MORRIS BEAUTIES
Well, I am officially hooked on Swedish towels and apparently I live under a rock because I didn’t know about them. They dry stiff so you need to get over that part of it . . .but they are incredible for wiping down dishes (or hand washing) and I LOVE THEM for cleaning cabinets, stainless, and my countertops. My installer told me to never use paper towels and these are wonderful (and washable). Plus if they come in a William Morris print, I pretty much have to have them.
They definitely were put to the test when I dropped a container of Greek yogurt this weekend. It flew out of my hand and went all over my island cabinets. Swedish towels to the rescue. And so gentle on the wood.
MUCH NEEDED REMINDER
On Sunday, I posted this on Instagram stories. A couple of hours later I received some devastating news about the unexpected loss of a family member. My heart goes out to everyone impacted. We know how difficult this path is.
I also know that so many of you are facing your own battles right now. Many of you reached out after I posted this. Whether it’s large or small, God’s got you. He truly does. And while it may not feel that way, he is never leaving your side. I needed the reminder, too.
Wishing you a beautiful day.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your relative. Thanks for the wonderful reminder that the Lord is always there to love, and comfort. All we need to do is reach out to Him.

Courtney, sorry for your loss.
Congratulations on your beautiful kitchen and boldness on two colors for cabinets and countertops.
I’m somewhat paralyzed by the countertop selection for my kitchen project and hope you can assist. My cabinets are wood (honey finish), which I love. The current countertop is a blue/green laminate, which flows into living room through the eating counter.
I have chosen a bluish gray with copper stone. It has veins. I’m stuck in the belief that the veins may be too much for my counter space and would become the focal point. I like subtleness.
Do you have sources to get a rendering of what the new combination would look like? I have a Photoshop rendering, but it’s not to scale given the limitations of the slab image.
Thank you
