What a week it’s been. Truly. It’s been a week where the tears were right at the edge of my eyes and yet so much joy happening, too. Our daughter turned 18 and I wasn’t prepared for how that would feel. It really is a milestone and one that brings about so many emotions. Add in senior prom, and this mama has been on emotional overload. So grateful to be sharing all of these moments with her. Here is a peek at all of the festivities with our Monday Morning Wrap Up.
SHE’S 18
To celebrate 18, Riley requested a birthday brunch with friends in our backyard. That will be in a few days (praying the rain forecast changes). But it was so much fun to decorate the house and celebrate her with our little crew. The party decor can be found here. The numbers were so much fun. The first one took me forever to put together but the second one went much quicker. And it’s much easier if you have another set of hands.
ALL GROWN UP
I still see the two year old and it’s almost impossible to think my baby is 18. It’s been pure joy watching her grow into an adult and I am so proud of her. She is kind, funny, self-effacing, loyal and fiercely intelligent. Her smile lights up our home and I am so grateful to be her mom. Yes, the teen years are challenging, but they are also amazing.
*Dress is sold out but did find it here in a different color.
MOTO IN NASHVILLE
If you are local, Moto is a great Italian restaurant in Nashville. Riley’s boyfriend joined us for a birthday dinner here. Such a fun family dinner. If you go, be sure to try the Tapenade Bruschette – delicious.
THESE TREES
These trees are incredible. Driving on these roads gives me such peace. The Tennessee roads are so beautiful.
SENIOR PROM
As if turning 18 this week wasn’t enough, we also threw in senior prom. The girls spent the night at our house the night before and were up at 6:00 am giggling and laughing. They were so excited and enjoyed every minute of the day together. One of the moms had us over while the girls got dressed. Highly recommend doing that. It was special for all of the moms and daughters to be together. I adore these girls and am beyond grateful for the friendship they all share.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL
While it may have taken them a minute to get this order right, boy was it worth it. To see them lined up in this rainbow was something special. And then the boys all joined behind them and it was so lovely. The prom was a big success and definitely a day they will remember.
QUIET REFLECTION
You better believe I spent a good amount of the morning right here catching my breath. So much to be grateful for and so many emotions. Nobody can really prepare you for senior year, especially the last month.
If you missed Saturday Shopping you can take a peek here. I shared some fun summer sandals and dresses.
Wishing you a really wonderful start to your week. We have another my husband’s birthday as well as my daughter’s birthday party with her friends so it’s a busy one for us.

Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter! Mine also just turned 18 and has prom in a few weeks – I’m not sure why, but as a mom, 18 feels different than 17. Maybe it’s knowing she’ll be in college in the fall. I’ve been soaking in the thoughtful words in your weekly newsletter, thanks for sending that out. And the rainbow of dresses is stunning as well!

Riley is gorgeous and that rainbow of prom dresses is the best prom pic I’ve maybe ever seen! My daughter is a year behind yours and reading your experiences and thoughts helps me prepare for next year. Thanks for sharing.
