Happy Monday! To be honest, I am barely keeping up with what day it is. This summer has me feeling all over the map just because we have been gone so much. But it’s nice to be home and plan to knock out a backyard project as well as get some direction on what color to paint our basement. Stay tuned for more on these projects this week. Here is a quick recap with our Monday Morning Wrap Up.
IN FULL BLOOM
These beauties were planted last year and barely survived. They are gorgeous and thriving but I have to say their counterparts aren’t looking so great. We have four in total and this seems to be the star student. Any advice when the plants directly next to them aren’t thriving? Obviously same conditions. You can see the one to the right is still small without blooms.
THE OLIVER, OXFORD
Last week we were in Oxford, Mississippi for orientation and had the best time. We love staying at The Oliver. If you ever find yourself in that town, this is definitely our favorite spot. It’s warm and inviting and at Christmas time it feels like you’re in a Hallmark movie. I just love the color scheme and welcoming feel.
The rooms are equally as pretty. I always get so much design inspiration when I am there.
ORIENTATION
Orientation was a success as well as an emotional roller coaster. It’s not easy walking into something like this without a friend and can feel overwhelming. But my daughter met some really great people and wrapped up the two days feeling so excited about what is to come. She is thrilled with her schedule and only has about 20 people in each class which helps a larger school feel much smaller. I will be sharing ideas soon for the dorm, college life, and rush. It’s safe to say this summer is going to fly and I’m not quite ready for that.
FATHER’S DAY
I hope you all enjoyed Father’s Day. It’s bittersweet over here not being able to pick up the phone and hear my dad’s voice. But we so enjoyed the day celebrating Ryan. He chose to do an escape game and brunch and we had a blast. If you are local, we highly recommend Forbidden Treasure with The Escape Game. It was so well done. We all loved it. And because it was crazy hot this weekend, it was a great choice to beat the heat.
On a side note, it’s so crazy to see my son now taller than my husband. When I started this blog, he was in preschool!
STAY GOLDEN
Afterwards we went to Stay Golden for brunch. A great spot if you haven’t been.
DOORS WIDE OPEN
Before the heat rolled in our temperatures were in the 70s and the doors were wide open. It was glorious. Now, it’s all about the AC! I had questions about this table when I shared on stories. We bought it from Nest Decor which is a local design shop. The black chairs (great deal) are from here and we’ve been very happy with them. The rug is a nice and thin and easy to vacuum. Our light is from here (I added shades).
LOVING THIS DRESS
When we were in Oxford, I wore this dress out one of the evenings. It’s comfortable and fits really nicely. Highly recommend this $35 Target dress. I wore it with these heels but it looks great with flats, too.
You can check out all of my favorites from the new Studio McGee line in this post.
Saturday Shopping was fun one this week. If you missed it, you can read through it here.
We have our first renters arriving to the beach house tomorrow! I am so excited to host them. And for those of you asking, you can find the house information here. There is a 15% discount for the last week in June.
Wishing you a really great start to the week. I am forcing myself to get in a workout and then knock things off the to-do list.
Elle says
I’m curious if your daughter thought about returning to California for college? I went to UC Santa Barbara-and now live in Palm Springs. And, wow, your son has really grown! I was 5’10” in 6th grade (and still grew more!) but he has really gotten tall!
