Good morning. What a week. I’m still processing and decompressing the college drop off adventure. I will be writing more about it in this week’s newsletter (join the list here). But for now I am grateful my girl is smiling and adjusting well. Here is a recap of life lately.
ROAD TRIP WITH MY GIRL
I would love to rewind to this moment. This was after we had loaded everything up and started out on our road trip. Ole Miss is four hours away and I loved every minute of my time with this girl. And her smile says it all.
Riley’s sunglasses can be found here and mine are from here. My smocked sundress is an Amazon favorite and I always wear it for travel.
IT’S ALL READY TO GO
I had so many people mention our car looked empty. What you didn’t see was my husband driving another car full to the brim. This was our staging spot. I highly recommend placing everything in one are once it is packed and ready to go. Once we knew we didn’t need to touch it again, it went here. And if you are still heading out, be sure to label every piece with your child’s name and room number.
Her school hires a move in service. They unload your car into large bins and take it to your room. I have to say it was a dream. They know what they are doing and really keep things moving. I think our move in took four hours. Not bad at all. The hardest part was maneuvering around everything with six adults in a tiny room. But we made it work and had so much fun doing it.
THE GROVE
This is Riley’s home for the next four years. I will say I take comfort in knowing she chose the right school for her. She loves it and feels so at peace here. Trust the process and really follow their lead. It’s so important that they embrace the right school for them. I’ve heard from so many of you that are Ole Miss grads or have children there and how great of an experience it has been. That was music to my ears. It really is a very special place and we can’t wait to enjoy the next four years with her.
BEAUTIFUL SKY
After we moved her in, we headed back to our Air BnB and this was the gorgeous sky. It’s painful when they are no longer under your roof but we know she has guardian angels watching over her. Such a milestone, that’s for sure. Like I said, I’ll share more thoughts in this week’s newsletter.
LOCAL SPOT
For those of you who are local or who might be visiting, Mojo’s is now in Nolensville. It’s a fantastic spot for families and young children. I love their house salad with brisket or chicken. So good! There is also one in the Factory in Franklin.
SO BEAUTIFUL
And if you missed this week’s Saturday Shopping post you can get caught up here. This dress is so pretty!
Thank you for so many kind messages about move in and the entire experience. There are so many of us going through the same thing or have gone through it. Sending love to you all. I hope this week brings lots of joy.
Nicole says
My sister (who has 2 sons and 1 daughter in college) took a look at our car packed for my son’s freshman year and said we didn’t bring enough since she could still see room in our SUV 😀
Best of luck to your daughter and the family on navigating this incredible milestone!
And that Anthro dress is perfection!
