We are slowly easing into Monday morning around here. We had one of those weekends that was all over the map. My husband was gone for four days and let’s just say Saturday morning was not our shining moment. If you follow on Instagram you would have seen that burnt pancakes an ants were a large part of it. But we turned things around and headed to the beach. As a team, we managed to finish the day on top which was a great thing. And here is the Monday Morning Wrap-Up of life around here.
So as I mentioned, our Saturday morning started out so rough. Like one of those mornings where you want to crawl back in bed. The kids were arguing from the time their eyes opened, ants found a new home in our kitchen, time outs were being handed out like candy, and I managed to burn the pancakes. All while the hubby was away on a trip to Tahoe. So we really needed to regroup. I decided to pack up the crew and head for the beach. Best decision. And when you pull into the parking lot and the very fist parking spot is available, you know you made the right choice. The fresh air and waves were all we needed. My daughter decided to forego the boogie board and took to body surfing like a pro. I normally try to do the beach with my hubby as we are big on being in the water with the kids and it’s a bit harder with the two. But at the end of the day, it was a ton of fun and my children were tuckered out. Mama’s dream when she is flying solo. A quick game of Sorry before bedtime and it was lights out. Success.
Here’s a shot from Instagram. I finally realized that children love appetizers just as much as adults. Why haven’t I done this before? My favorite part of going anywhere fancy is having appetizers to graze on. If you are a mom, you can relate to children ALWAYS being hungry, am I right?! So instead of waiting for the, “What can I have?” question I am being proactive and setting out a pretty platter of fruits an veggies for them to enjoy from 3-4. I just put it out on the table and they can eat them as they wish. And because my children are pretty big eaters, this won’t spoil their dinner. And I feel much better about this healthy alternative versus some processed snack. It was fun to hear other ideas people had over on Instagram. Love that we can all support one another in keeping our kids healthy.
The weekend before, we joined dear friends on Lake Mohave. Despite driving five hours in lightning storms followed by a ten mile dust storm, the weather was glorious. And to be honest, we didn’t have movies or tech for the kids in the car and mother nature’s lighting storms were more than enough entertainment on the drive. They were so cute oohing and ahhing each time the sky lit up. On the other hand, I was a basket case. I have a weird fear of storms. Wish I didn’t. In any event, these kids LOVED the lake and I think my son may have jumped off the boat at least 100 times.
These little guys are growing up together and it’s so fun to watch. We feel so blessed to not only be friends, but neighbors. And when you can vacation together seamlessly, you don’t take that for granted.
And so bummed about how blurry this is. I stuck my iPhone in a ziploc bag just in case it fell into the water. Well, in true fashion I forgot about how it would effect the camera. Ha! So this is what I call the “plastic bag filter!” Love this little one with all of my heart. He loved every second of his time on the lake.

And do you remember these cover-ups from Cabana Life? We have been wearing them all summer long. I honestly LOVE them. And my daughter loves hers which is even more impressive. Well the kids styles are up to 65% off so you may want to look into it. I think I may buy another one for the kids in the next size up and put them away for next summer. You can’t beat $15.
We spent much of yesterday cleaning so it’s nice to kick off the week with that checked off the list. Although who am I kidding? The house will be a mess in less than two hours. It’s the endless cycle of cleaning . . . and yet I wouldn’t change a thing. Realizing these babes of mine only have two more weeks of summer and I’ll take the mess. Time is flying by too quickly. Enjoy your day, my friends.

It’s never all sunshine and roses in any of our lives! Way to turn it around though. I swear, you live in such a gorgeous place! I like getting to see the weekends at your place and your adorable kiddos. I’d eat every bite on your appetizer platter, but my son would only touch the grapes. 🙁 Work in progress on that one!

Out fam did Hawaii this year. I wanted the kids to be able to take pics with their ipods, so I invested in some inexpensive waterproof pouches. They are now a staple for my beachbag. I got mine at amazon (prime): Joto Universal Waterproof case bag for $11. Trust me, you will love them! They even fit my son’s Lg G3 phone. They just need to be tested ahead of time (papertowel inside under water), one of the four did leak. Amazon happily allowed for its return. Enjoy ????
