Good morning. How was your weekend? We enjoyed time with good friends and cheering on our football teams. Our painters came over the weekend to work on the basement. More on that below. I’m officially counting down until my girl comes home on Friday. So much to look forward to. Here is a recap of life lately with our Monday Morning Wrap Up.
These fall nights are so pretty. It never really translates on camera but trying to appreciate all of the color before the leaves are gone for winter. We are about to get a cold front so we are soaking it all in.
Ryan knocked this out of the ball park. Over 40 boxes in the basement. For those asking, there is 3.5″ in between each box. It was a ton of work but he is is still happy he tackled it. We were able to pivot and change things up as we went which would have been difficult had we hired someone. The painters worked all weekend to patch and prep and the color goes on today! I can hardly wait.
Weeknight dinner on rotation for hockey nights has been brown rice pasta, grilled chicken (my husband uses the Blackstone and loves it) and homemade pesto. Right now I have been using this combination and it’s so yummy:
- ⅓ cup walnuts
- 3 large garlic cloves
- 2 cups fresh basil leaves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- few cracks of black pepper
- ½ cup grated fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano
- 2/3 cup of olive oil
Once the pasta is ready, I toss in the chicken and the pesto sauce. A drizzle of olive oil and stir. So yummy.
BRING ON THE LIGHTS
We plan to decorate our tree after Thanksgiving but it’s so nice to have the glow of the lights. The evenings feel so much more magical with the tree up. And I am all about grabbing a blanket from somewhere in our home to use as the tree skirt. Nothing else to store after the season. What about you? Have you started decorating?
BIG 40% OFF SALE
Don’t sleep on this! We adore these towels. So soft and plush and now 40% off. A wonderful deal. I’ve given up on white towels and slowly changing to this almond color. They are softer than our Serena & Lily towels.
My girl Sarah shared her Alzheimer’s journey in this episode and it’s beeing re-broadcast today. So special. She and I met through our mom’s journeys and then happen to run into each other moving our daughter’s into Ole Miss. We couldn’t believe our paths crossed that way. Meant to be for sure. If you know anyone traveling this path, please share this with them.
BLOG UPDATE
After months of it being broken, I finally fixed the subscription link. If you would like to receive an email when I publish a blog post, you can add your name here. It will just send you a one sentence blurb about the post and the link. I really need to hire someone for all of the behind the scenes. But something tells me I will never get around to that.

Are the walls that you added trim to textured?
Courtney says
Hi Alicia. Ours have very subtle, almost completely smooth texture. Which is new for us as our CA walls were heavily textured.

Trim work is stunning, can’t wait to see finished. My brain would have shut down with all that math!
