Monogram Art

October 1, 2010 by Courtney 5 Comments

When my girl, Megan from Honey We’re Home shared her monogram art project, I knew I had to whip one up for myself. Take a look

We have an awkward spot in between an upper and lower cabinet as you walk into our master bedroom. I love the storage, but the shelf itself tends to serve one purpose . . . collecting junk! So I needed to “beautify” it so that I wouldn’t just toss things there as a half-way spot. You know, the place you put stuff before it really finds a home!

The space is screaming out for a vase of fresh flowers, but it gets such little sunlight that I am not sure that would work. Any ideas?

I used the same trellis scrapbook paper that Megan did and then printed my monogram letters, cut them out, and used a little bit of glue to hold them in place. The middle blue strip is actually a leftover paint color card with a strip of white card stock over it.

The fonts I used were Batang size 500 for the “F” and Footlight MT Light size 200 for the “R” and “C”. You can check out Megan’s full tutorial here.  Do you have any fun and easy artwork projects you are working on?

Courtney, you might consider a houseplant such as a fern or Aglaonema or “Chinese Evergreen” plant. Another good choice for indoor plants for shade would be the Aspidistra or “Cast Iron Plant”. I really like the corkscrew rush myself; however it requires a little light. Saw one online is an adorable multi-colored striped coffee cup planter – certainly added a lot of color. An angel-leaf begonia or puple tradescantia zebrina would be nice too.

The monogram is great as are all your projects! I check your sight regularly 🙂

Just an idea – but what about making that little shelf a coffee bar? Install an outlet if there isn't one, add a coffee machine, a cute little basket with flavored coffee's, a tray with 2 cute mugs, etc. Maybe some "java" prints on the back wall? Love your monogram!

Girls! I love your ideas. Thank you for the plant suggestions. And maybe I can convince the hubby to hook me up with an outlet there. Having a coffee bar sounds AMAZING! Sherri, can you come over and transform it for me!!!

Your monogram turned out great! I like the colors you used and your frame is perfect. I've actually used faux flowers in some decor—-shhhh! don't tell:)
