Much Needed Mountain Getaway

February 6, 2012 by Courtney 23 Comments

Rather last minute, our little family decided to pack up and head to the mountains for the weekend. We left early on Friday and enjoyed three glorious days in Big Bear. The weather was crisp and cold and the kids couldn’t get enough of being outside and seeing the snow. While it didn’t actually snow while we were there, there were patches on the ground and we still managed to fit in some tubing. So much fun. It was a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of life. Both my hubby and I were “unplugged” the entire weekend. No laptops, iPads, phones or any other type of technology. Thought I would recap a little for you with some photos and show you the AWESOME house we rented. We didn’t want to leave! IMG_7316IMG_7317IMG_7319 The great room opens to the kitchen which makes it so nice for spending quality time together. We had some mean games of UNO with the kids at the dining room table! IMG_7322 IMG_7327 IMG_7332 Here is my son visiting his sister in her “pink” room. You can see he made himself right at home with Mickey on his bed! IMG_7336IMG_7337 How fabulous is the master bath and the claw foot tub! Told you we didn’t want to leave. IMG_7352IMG_7385IMG_7392 And no mountain vacation would be complete with s’mores! And yes, my son is still sporting his Christmas pajamas in February. Don’t judge! If you sent me an email or question over the past few days, I promise to plug back in and get caught up. Hope you all had a great weekend as well. Happy Monday.

That house is seriously awesome. I love weekend trips like that–especially the "unplugged" part. I love my technology, but something is so freeing about not having it for a weekend. 🙂

Good for you unplugging! I think my hub and I need to do more of that on the weekends! Oh – and Christmas pj's are fine 'til spring in my book. You gotta get your wear out of them – right?! That house is amazing. I can see why you didn't want to leave.

That's so great to get away for a few days. Looks beautiful. I'd love to escape to the mountains, too….but they're not anywhere close to me! 🙁

Wow! What a nice family retreat! And no way will I judge your son- my son wore those pajamas last night. I consider them "winter' pajamas. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Long time reader, first time commenter – we love Big Bear! We went up there a few summers ago to go mountain biking and camp! So fun! You might be a little closer though since we are in San Diego 🙂
