Did anyone else find that Spring break made them really really anxious for summer? I am so ready. It’s still a couple of months off and yet I am craving the together time with the kiddos and the lazy days at the pool and beach. We are about to head into birthday season over here. My daughter is first up and I can’t believe she will turn nine next week. It’s really flown by in a blink of an eye. She is our miracle baby and every time I look at her I am in awe.
And because I like to keep things real on this blog, parenting this sweet, shy girl is a challenge each day. Not because she is difficult, but because she and I share so many qualities and yet we are opposites in so many others. I am constantly questioning whether I am handling situations correctly. I suppose that is parenting. When Nordstrom invited me to take a look at the summer sandals for children I immediately perked up. See, this sweet little one lives in her Converse tennis shoes. Like 24/7. I told her we could pick out some sandals that look like mommy. That worked! We made a day of it and she chose the cutest sandals. In fact, I am thinking about ordering the size 5 {should fit my size 7 1/2 adult size}.
Aren’t they cute? It was bittersweet for both my husband and me though because they seem like grown up shoes. I know that’s silly. I guess it’s just crazy to see her getting so much older. When I took her to take photos of the shoes she was so excited. The girl is a natural and it was a fun way to spend the evening before dinner.
If you look closely you can see the tan line from her Converse. Told you she wears them a lot. She said her feet feel so free . . .maybe I have converted her to sandals! At least for the warmer months.
This little one brings us such joy. I hope that she always knows how much we love her and feels this free and this happy. Truth be told, this little one is painfully shy. So to see her come out of her shell and enjoy this photo shoot was such a gift. While she lets loose with close family and friends, it really takes her a very very long time to get there. And that’s quite alright.

Nordstrom has some darling shoes right now. I would seriously wear every single pair myself! While my kiddos used to be able to wear any shoe as little ones, they really need shoes that will stand up to the rough and tumble play they both do. They are so hard on their shoes. Whether it’s at school or out playing with their scooters and bikes, the quality of the shoe needs to be up to par or they just don’t last. I learned that the hard way. We are not big on having a million pairs of shoes for our kiddos. They each have 2-3 quality picks from Nordstrom and that’s it. And the prices are really quite great on so many of their shoes.
And here is where that Converse tan line came from. Girl loves her black high tops {red ones too}. And G man is a flip flops and popped collar kind of guy. We hadn’t even planned on snapping photos this day but there accidental coordinating outfits were just too much. Thought I would leave you with some fun summer picks for adults, too. Have you already bought some sandals for spring? I’ve been living in these with this tank. Fun, casual look.
And in case you missed it, I finally made my sweet girl a headboard! At long last.

Sweet, sweet girl! She is full-blown working those poses…LOVE. IT!! She and S would be such pals, in their matching tennies. I need to try those sandals for her…she refuses to wear anything between her toes. :/ J gets his braces on tomorrow…I can't believe R is already ready for them! They are getting so big! #uglycry

She is so cute Courtney! She is a mini you. Love her sandals and I might have to check those out for me. That is a darling top she is wearing with the pretty lace detail and her pretty red toe nails. Your kids have grown up so much since I started following your blog.

Those do look like grown up sandals which mean I want them for me! I like that they don't have that in-between-the-toes thingy. Happy early birthday to your girl!

Love the sandals and your daughter is lovely. Can I just ask when do your children get their braces fitted? My daughter is 9 in June but the dentists in the UK won't fit them until they are 11 or 12.

She is adorable!! And yes, you blink and they all the sudden seem so grown up. Between the braces and the sandals, she looks so much older.
