Oh, Happy Day! The Pillows Arrived

February 10, 2011 by Courtney 51 Comments

There is a whole lot of the happy dance going on over here. Our living room makeover is coming together and my beloved Sweet William pillows arrived! The amazing people over at Tonic Living sensed my excitement and made sure they arrived quickly. Thank you! Thank you! So I wanted to give you a little peak at what we have going on {I say “we” but it’s really “me.” The hubby just sits back and wonders what idea I will obsess over next. He knows me so well. The overall goal was to lighten up the space and move away from the rusts and red tones. IMG_9525 Here are my new babies from Tonic Living. They turned out just like I had hoped. I think this one likes its new home on one of my favorite pieces of furniture. IMG_9536 For those of you with a keen eye for the details {Megan} I have yet to paint the darn feet on the ottoman. It will happen one of these days {can’t find a paint that is dark brown enough without being black . . .advice anyone?} IMG_9540IMG_9546 I recently purchased a new dresser for my master bedroom nightstand. Bottom line . . . I was able to bring this one downstairs. I LOVE it in the living room. I like the little bit of glamour it adds as well as the storage. Even though I have a work space upstairs, I am able to keep my laptop and Silhouette in here. It works out great since I am often in this room working on projects or blogging early in the morning or at naptime.   IMG_9547IMG_9550IMG_9551 Other Sources: White pillow covers: Ikea Graphic print pillows:  Target Ruffled brown pillow:  Target Couch:  Pierce sectional {available at Pottery Barn} Ottoman Bench:  K-Mart {LOVE} Mirrored Side table:  Z-Gallerie Rug:  HomeGoods Lamp: HomeGoods IMG_9542 There are still a few more things I would like to do in the room. The scale of the leather chair in the corner is all wrong . . .but I don’t want to settle so I am still on the hunt. Thanks for letting me share how things are coming along. A big thank you to Tonic Living for my pretty new pillows! Sharing This Room With: The Shabby Nest Remodelaholic

The room is gorgeous! I love everything about it. I am so ready to lighten ours up a bit, but have a couple other projects to finish first. I actually think I saw some lamps at Home Goods with that Sweet William (or something VERY similar) on the lamp shades!!! Oh, and paint…the paint we used for our entertainment center, fireplace mantle, and island is a really rich deep chocolate brown (but not black). It is a custom color mix from Porter Paint. So, if you have one near you that might work. The formula is on my blog.

I am in love…not only with your pillows but the whole room, looks like it is right out of a magazine! I bought a slipcover for my couch last night from Target on clearance yet:) Seeing your sofa and the blue in the pillows showed me how well and pretty blue would look on the natural colored couch.
Thanks for sharing it is just so very neat!

Beautiful pillow! Love the mix with graphic prints too. I don't think I've ever noticed your family shoot on the wall behind the couch? so sweet

Oh, and as far as the brown…find one you like the shade of, then have them mix it 25% darker (and just get a sample size!)

I'm head over heels in love with the room and the new color palette…it looks so perfect! And those new pillows??? Insanely good. Do you really even *need* to paint the feet on the ottoman at this point? I think it actually looks really nice as is…but that's just me…(c:

Well wouldn't you know it, I posted on new living room throw pillows today too! Coincidence, I think not! Just genius.

LOVE the new pillows! And I love seeing big shots of your room- like the girls said, I dont think I ever noticed those adorable family pictures above the couch! That graphic pillow on the leather chair is Target?? Hmmm. Love.

On the legs- you could sand and stain with a dark stain color? And do extra coats to get dark without being black. Kind of tough, but might get you the color you're looking for?

I forgot to mention in my comment I just used a couple dark browns that I liked. We were lookign for a dark brown that didn't end up looking black and these worked for us. They are Sherwin Williams…Griffin (7026) and Well Bred Brown (7027). Just a thought!
