There are a million photos of GORGEOUS closets floating all around blogland. While I swoon over them, most of them could never happen in my closet! Either they demand a much larger space . . . or a MUCH larger budget. I can always depend on Real Simple Magazine to offer some solutions for the real world. I recently took on our master closet. Here are some inspiration photos of easy to apply tips. Wooden hangers prolong the life of clothes Hanging shoe bags are a great use of space. Consider a hanging sweater bag with drawers. Great example of a small space really packing a lot in. Adding a seat and a mirror makes a walk in closet feel like a dressing room. Great brass plates elevate the style of this closet. Dividers keep items on shelves neat and organized. Consider hanging your purses if space is a luxury. Add a dresser for storage. {photos via Real Simple} This could be replicated by building your own set of shelves or using an Expedit in between hanging spaces. So if you are in the mood to get your closet in order, maybe some of these tips will help. I will be posting some images of our cozy closet makeover soon. I used a good number of the Real Simple ideas. Have you done a closet over hall for fall yet?

All great ideas! I love that they keep it Real and Simple!! We really need to go through our closet again, not that it is really messy, just need to weed out going into the new season and make a few changes so it functions better.

I would LOVE a custom closet, I die every time I see a photo of one! I am constantly harassing my husband about it for the new house 😉

Courtney, I am starting to wonder if we have ESP with one another…I have devoted the week to cleaning, organizing, and re-filling my closet!

I just "re-did" my half of my closet and posted that on my blog the other day (The Ugly Truth)! Too funny! I used baskets for my undies and jammies since I didn't but a bureau in there. And, I used eye hooks and yarn strung between them on an empty wall to hang scarves from. Someday, I will budget for a pretty closet system!

I've been organizing my closet all week and trying to see what fits and (still- grrr) doesn't! When I had a teeny closet in our townhouse I loved using those vertical hangers that held 6 shirts and 4 skirts- major space saver. Thanks for your tips.

This is all easy to implement which I love. You definitely don't need a huge space to have a beautiful closet – just good ideas like these.

Your closet makes me drool. I unfortunately am moving into a teeny two bedroom apartment with no closet space whatsoever. Oh, sacrifices. These are some great tips though. I use a sweater hangy thingy to keep all my jeans organized. 🙂 I'm definitely gonna try to add some dividers.
Keep up the good work,
