Our Little Ode to Halloween

October 24, 2012 by Courtney 12 Comments

So I am not the world’s best mom when it comes to getting this place in the Halloween spirit. I have just never really embraced the Halloween décor. But as my children get older, I feel a little guilty about that. Not to mention how warped my poor kiddos’ sense of seasons is with me decorating a Christmas tree. So I sucked it up and let Martha Stewart help me out. I happened upon JoAnn’s and all of their Halloween décor is 70% off. Oh, yeah. So I tossed a few easy things in my cart and within five minutes it looked like I at least know it is almost October 31st. A few decals and labels and I called it good. IMG_0085 IMG_0076 IMG_0080IMG_0081 I was lamenting to my hubby that I sort of dropped the ball and felt bad for the kids. I came home from running an errand and he had fully “spooked” out the front of our house with webs and spiders. Super cute and the kids LOVED helping. So grateful he stepped in. He even tossed some spooky webs around the house, too. Now my kids know it’s not quite Christmas and Halloween really is right around the corner. Excuse the night time photo I snapped with my phone when I came home. photo (60) My other attempts at Halloween décor can be found here Chevron Pumpkins painted pumpkins a thoughtful place Oreo Cookie Desserts zebrachic a thoughtful place   h a p p y   a l m o s t   h a l l o w e e n

don't feel bad – I think all they really care about is dressing up and eating tons of candy! – this is the very first year I've ever decorated for Halloween – i posted about our mantel today too – great minds 😉

Very pretty! My kids went down in the basement with me this year and starting pulling out every single thing. If I let them have their way, it would have looked like a pumpkin exploded in my house. Even though we toned it down, I would have preferred to just go very neutral and simple. Maybe next year I will hide all that junk from them! Happy Almost Halloween!

Adorable! That's the kind of Halloween decor that I like, simple but fun! You did a great job.

So cute — I love all those decals! That's how I started out… just a few clearance things each year, next thing you know, 3 years will have gone by and you'll have a bucket of halloween decor!! I'm not a fan of the store-bought purplely stuff…but think it's fun to create your own. now get here already!!!

I love it…perfect little touches without going overboard! I have a feeling I will be the same way! I prefer autumn decor over Halloween! Oops! 😉

Your Halloween decor is very tastefully done. We don't do too much either…a few pumpkins and a few black crows I hung in our living room bay windows. I like to keep it simple.
