Outdoor Space: New Fabrics

April 19, 2012 by Courtney 20 Comments

We have a small patio space off of our dining room. When the children were a bit younger it was a perfect spot for them to play with their water table and be outside while I was inside cooking or working on projects. Now that they are getting older, they prefer to ride bikes with their friends and run around out front. What does this mean for us? We get our patio back! Gone are all of the baby toys. We had a couch and two chairs out there, but have always wanted a table so that we can eat outside as well as expand our entertaining space. I will be showing you our newly updated patio once we get it all together. But today, I am sharing the outdoor fabrics I will be using. Some will be for pillows while others will be for an art project I am creating. Stay tuned for the DIY on that. ……………………outdoor fabrics IMG_8705IMG_8715 I like the idea of mixing many different prints and in bright vibrant colors. The yellow trellis, blue floral, and multi-colored stripe are from JoAnns. The aqua and tangerine pillows are from Home Depot. We really spend so much time outside so I am excited about making this a warm and pretty space. This morning I took my laptop and coffee out there. I am getting a taste of summertime and I like it! Do you have an outdoor space that you are working on for the warmer months? …………………………………………………. And happiest of birthdays to my dear friend, Leah. We had big plans in junior high to open our own law firm. . . plans have changed, life has gone on, babies have been born, family members have been lost. Through it all, you have remained a steadfast support. Happy Birthday, friend.

Love all the fabric you chose! So cheerful. We need to pressure wash our back porch and start thinking about changes the cushions out.

For some reason I think I'll have baby toys in my future, instead of pretty fabrics : ) I will just live vicariously through you, ha! These colors are beautiful. Can't wait to see what you do.

I am in the middle of a screened in porch re-do. I just dropped my fabric off today to have pillows made. All I need is a coffee table and I'm done!

I love your fabric choices – we have a deck in our new house – so I will be excited to decorate that area – probably a project for next Spring! This is a random question – but how do you do the cute wording and dots above your pictures? – you always make your posts so cute with that!

I was looking at outdoor fabric today at JoAnn's and was holding the yellow/white graphic print in my hand! Then I decided I had too many other projects I needed to finish before I start anything else! We are in the process of building our patio table and bench. This is our first time to actually build furniture so it has certainly been a learning experience! We have finished the bench and love it so hopefully we will be just as happy with the table,,,wish us luck! Our goal is to eat dinner on the patio Saturday…we'll see! I love that yellow fabric-very Imperial Trellis-like, or does Imperial Trellis come in an outdoor fabric too?? I can't wait to see your porch makeover, I just finally reclaimed my porch last summer-you can see it's progress here http://www.thehappierhomemaker.com/2011/06/porch-in-progress.html

Yes, I am. I've been staring at my outdoor fabrics for a week on my desk while waiting on a delivery for a gazebo trying to figure out what other color to bring in to it, knew it needed a little some'em some'em but what? And then you post this and BAM! Now I know, a dark pinkish coral red to bring out that little strip of color to make the green pop, thanks!
