I am feeling so much more well rested today and am super excited about an upcoming party I will be hosting. I am always looking for a good excuse to throw a bash. I am painfully aware that summer is coming to a close {we don’t go back to school until September} so I want to make the most of the summer evenings we have left. At the end of August I will be hosting a Back to School Cocktail Party for Moms. We all work hard and the school year brings about new challenges, hectic schedules and a craziness that summer masks for a short time. So it’s party planning time, people. I am going big with color. Our front porch is sporting saturated color {you can see our porch here} and I want the party décor to have a similar feel. Here is some inspiration I am gathering. classy in the city The stripes, the tray, the monogram. Eek. It’s all darling. I love the sherbet-esque feel to this color scheme. via patchwork harmony This I can handle! I wrapped our fourth of july cans in paper and I am thinking I will do the same in a bright, fun pattern. inside and out Balloons aren’t just for kids, my friends. I never ever dreamed of placing cute flags on the strings of each. And do you see the cute parchment paper on the table. Nice, cute touch. minted I will definitely be using Minted to help me with the decorations. Their party décor is crazy cute. Sort of digging those polka dots above. Here are my top ten tips for easily adding color to a party: 1. wrap cans with scrapbook paper 2. use stripey straws just as decoration 3. hang fun, bright fabric remnants on the backs of chairs {none of them need to match} 4. attach flags to balloon strings 5. spray paint bright stripes on a runner 6. wrap empty shoe boxes in coordinating wrapping papers to elevate treats on a buffet 7. fill mason jars with colored water to match your theme 8. mix and match your paper plates & napkins {don’t buy the same patterns and colors} 9. add washi tape to guests’ glasses 10. consider a signature cocktail in a bright color While I won’t be going quite this big, I do hope that the moms can relax, enjoy and savor the remaining moments of summer just being giggly girls. olesouthsweetheart I will keep you posted as the party planning progresses. And hopefully the tips on adding color will help you with your next soiree. make it a great day

Fun! I used to host a back to school brunch for my girlfriends when our kids were younger. The kiddos here start back tomorrow! I just might have to throw an empty nest party when we return from Texas.
