My dining room has been a very slow process as most of you know! I am coming into the homestretch as I just need to redo my chairs. I toyed with getting new ones but really like the simple, classic lines and think holding onto them is the best idea. I posted here about how they are currently sporting a horrendous crackle paint finish and an outdated plaid fabric. I plan to sand, repaint in a similar cream color and recover the seat cushions. I will also add hardware to the back of each chair. My problem has been deciding on a fabric. HELP! I will use an outdoor fabric as my three year old is still in the habit of leaving part of his dinner behind, under, and around him! Here is a look at the hardware that will go on the back of each chair. I am wanting to keep the space neutral so that when the holidays are here or when I throw a party, I can use whatever color scheme I choose. I am at such a stand still so it is now your turn!! I would love to know what you think. Fortunately, there are a ton of options. Unfortunately, I can’t narrow it down. {The number is above each sample} ………………………………………………………………………………………………… Number One ………………………………………………………………………………………….. Number Two ……………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Number Three ………………………………………………………………………………………………… Number Four ………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Number five …………………………………………………………………………………………… Number Six ……………………………………………………………………………………………… Number Seven …………………………………………………………………………………………………. Number Eight ……………………………………………………………………………………………… Number Nine If you care to chime in, please leave me a comment for which fabric you like best. Also, many of you have emailed me about my chandelier. I appreciate all of the nice comments. I had first spied it in Chassity’s home. It’s the Troy Sausolito Pendant. Hope that helps! Now, please get voting. I need your help! I hope you are all having a great day and feeling much more decisive then I am.

i love the idea of bringing in the green from the accents in the room… number 2 is my pick!
Megan says
I love number 2, 4, and 6! Good luck!
Michaela says
Love number 2! I think the size of the print works really well with the curtains stripe. Loving the green, too!
Carly {Honey and the Moon} says
I say number 2 or number 8. I love the pop of green. While I like some of the other fabric choices that are grey, I just think you need some more color.

Tracy Green says
i love 6, it helps bring more color, and i think you would have more to work with.
SC Crew says
Love 1, 7 and 5. I think 5 might be my favorite just because of the extra punch of color. Can't wait to see the final result!
Bernadette {Chic Spaces for Little Faces} says
I don't think you could go wrong with any of them but I love #9. That would look great with the stripes. Although I do like the idea of bringing in some green too especially since you have those botanical prints so #8 would be my second choice.
AGohl says
I really like number 7, but I think I like number 5 or 8 for that room, especially as those ones look like they would hide some little boy lovin the best 🙂
Kim @ keller-creative says
I like 3, 7 and 9. Oh and 5. Hmm, I guess that was no help at all.
Menno Jeweler says
I was interested to see that your chairs are cream colored while your table is stained wood. I've been debating this idea for my house, since I like the color of our table (also stained wood) but I hate our chairs although they are still in good condition. I have thought about painting them in a creamy color and adding some cushions with both brown and cream to tie it all together. Hmmm, you've got me thinking!
As for my vote, I like 3,4, or 6….but if I had to choose just one, it would be 3. I like the organic feel of it.
Gail @ Sophisticated Steps says
I cannot tell you how much our fabric tastes are alike. I have 3 kids aka mess makers. Outdoor fabric is your friend (if not leather). 🙂
I made living room curtains (which is actually our kids' playroom) out of #2 (just not the outdoor version). LOVE them.
For your chairs…hmmm…I'm thinking #4 or #9 and leaning more towards #9. Color-wise they're very neutral and the patterns aren't busy. Elegant and sophisticated without being stuffy. (Really like all of them, though.) I'm sure whatever you do will love great!

Oksana @ Order Matters says
I actually love 8. I think it will go very nicely with the decor and colours you got going already. Good luck!

They are all beautiful! I love number 3 or number 8!
Tiara says
I love #9, it's such a beautiful bold print but still very neutral. Good Luck! =]
caycee says
Number 2 and Number 8 are my favorites!!! Cant wait to see which you choose!
Shelley says
I'm really liking #2 and #4. Maybe #2 would be a little more interesting because of the color. Can't wait to see what you choose!
Simply LKJ says
If you want a pop of color, I'd say #2. But, if what you were going for was remaining neutral to decorate around, I'd have to say #3 (or even #4). Green really is quite neutral however.
Alexandria says
Number seven! I have a thing for green 🙂
beckyj @ alazycrazylife says
I'm torn between 4 and 7. Good luck choosing!
Nikki says
I really like #5 for the added color. #7 and #9 would be my next favs.
Leslie says
Number 4. 🙂
Andrea says
Love 2, 3, or 9. They're all fab…good luck making a decision!
christine donee says
#2. definitely.
Carissa @ the Fabulous Design File says
#4 or #9
The Yellow Cape Cod says
#9, I love the way it looks next to the drapes.
SavvySurfer says
#4 has my vote. 🙂
April @ A kitchen table for two says
I LOVE #2 and #9. The color is #2 is wonderful, but the shape in #9 echos your new over-the-table fixture… If only you could have the color of #2 and the pattern of #9. Those are my pics =)
HB says
I like #5, but I saw this other fabric with similar colors that I think would be perfect for the space. Check it out here:

If you choose a neutral I would go for 3,4, or 9.
stacie says
Well we definitely have super similar tastes in fabric. I love them and I think a lot of them work beautifully in combo too, but for this particular purpose, without a doubt, number 2 is superior to me! (That is def. not the first fabric I'd pick for accent pillows or something, but for this0 absolutely!!)
Ms. Bright says
I LOVE the idea of you using #9, because of the strong graphic and bold contrast. It works reall well with your drapery and also the interlocking pattern mimics your chandy. I really love a pop of green in this space, but the botanical prints, apples, pelegrinos and maybe one other something would be plenty, imo. If you're set on green for the chairs, I'd go with #2 Lovely Lattice (because of the similar interlocking quality)
BTW, #1 is an awesome pattern, but irl it's extremely stiff and a bit slick, even for outdoor fabric!!
p.s. Shabby Apple dress giveaway going on now! You oughtta enter!!

K.D. Kinney says
If you want to keep it neutral but fun I vote for number 4 or number 9. Good luck! I'll be excited to see how they turn out!
Brooke @ Inside-Out Design says
I am totally torn between #'s 2,3 & 9. I think #9 would look so pretty with your curtains, but #2 would bring out the bits of green that you already have in the room. And #3 is just plain pretty! Plus it's hard to tell from the picture, but if the background of #3 was the same color as the dark stripe in the drapes then I think it'd be a really pretty way to tie the chairs in with the curtains. I love when fabrics in the same color but totally different patterns are paired together. All your choices are gorgeous though so no matter which you go with you really can't go wrong!
Jenny says
#8 for sure!!
Simply Kelly says
I love number 8. I think it will soften the room and not draw attention away from the striped curtains. Can't wait to see what you pick.
Anonymous says
number2….goes great with the big stripes in the curtains and brings in the green accent….but you are so good at decorating, you will pick the right one!
Jylare Smith says
#4! I think it goes best with the curtains.
natasha {schue love} says
I personally love # 2, 7, and 8! I think the apple green color will compliment the room well! Don't know if that's a help but they're all gorgeous! Can't wait to see the end product! 🙂
Kristen Fine says
I like 2 & 8, which I guess makes me indecisive just like you! I really like the new look!
The Sister Sophisticate says
My pick is number two! Love the green and pattern!
Allison says
All beautiful fabrics! I can see how it is hard to choose but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I think I'm drawn to #8 for your dining room. There's a cocoa brown or gray (not sure what color that is) outlining the leaves and flowers that ties in with the color in your drapes. You've got such a good eye, Courtney, for color and design that you'll choose the perfect one!
Rene says
Ooh I'm really digging 7 or 8, but they are all really pretty.
Jill R. says
I love number 2! It would look so pretty with the room and even down to the green apples on the table:)
Cassie {Hi Sugarplum!} says
I am all about Courtney right now!!1
I'm liking 5 for the added color (lots to pull from, and you know I can't resist color), and the soft lines of the pattern. I think you need something soft to counter the strong masuline drape (which I A.DORE.) But you really couldn't go wrong with any. Are you sold on painting the chairs cream? what about pale gray or blue…just a tinge of color to help them pop off the chair molding?
And my head just exploded looking at Grady's party. Best little boy party ever. Seriously…and I love the shot of you looking up at him with pure adoration. Fab photo skillz too!!
Cassie out.
Clark, Jolie and Avery says
I love the charming birds pattern on #3 but I really like the lovely green pattern on #7! And yes, thanks for the wonderful birthday party post. Such simple but fun decorations, favors, etc.
jamie @ kreyv says
I like one and seven. I like the green contrast against the color of your curtains, and I also like the smaller print (to hide small stains)!
Kim says
Your window treatments are gorgeous. Are they staying? If so I think four would go best. Good luck! I can't wait to see what you choose.
xoxo,
Kim

Number seven is my fave – and the bird pattern (#3) is a close second.

2 or 7, I think you need the pop of color too. For some reason I think 2 kind of speaks to the light fixture even though they aren't the same pattern. I love seeing how this room has come together. Gives me hope for my slow projects…
D and G Stories says
Number 3 is my pick! 🙂
Ashley says
#9. If you go with a neutral it'll help keep you from having to redo them if you change the color scheme later
modern jane says
I vote for 4 and 9 but they are all great and would work in the room:) I love your light fixture by the way!!
Linda H. says
They are all beautiful fabrics. I like #4 the best because it appears to be the most neutral in color and the design is so classic. While I like #9 also, it seems like the scale of the design may be a bit too large for a chair seat.
Let us know what you choose and can't wait to see pics of the finished project. I love the idea of the hardware on the back. I can envision something hanging from there at the holidays.
Jen says
Hands down, #9. Even though there is not that punch of color, the fabric is bold.. and beautiful!! I love the print and clean lines. (The bird print takes second.) Just my two cents. Good luck!!
Chic Coastal Living says
I like #4 and #9…..hope this helps! It's looking great so far!
17 Perth says
Wow–all a great picks!! And, I honestly think any that you pick with definitely look great. My faves are 5 and 7!!
Trisha @ The Sweet Survival says
I love #2 and #6. Those are my favorites. Though you can't go wrong with any of them in your gorgeous room! Thanks for stopping by!
Jensy says
I look #8 for a more traditional look. But I really love #9 the best. It gives is a modern edge to a mostly neutral dining room. Whatever you choose I'm sure it will look fabulous!
sings praise says
I love your room , if it were mine I would choose 7 or 5. I can see any of them in your room
Anna See says
Great fabirci! I vote for number 2!
marylanierd says
Hmmm, I keep going back to #8! I feel like it is so unsuspecting but it goes perfectly with the stripe! I also love #2!
Emily says
I just LOVE your dining room. Each time I see a picture of it I wish it were in my house. My vote is number 2, although they are all amazing.
Rambling Renovators says
Ooh, so many choices! I vote for #5. The paisley is a nice contrast to the stripes and adds some movement to the room. Plus, you could pull accents from the different colours for different celebrations… red for Valentines, brown for a Thanksgiving party. Its also a classic, not too trendy pattern.
Kathysue says
I am loving #6 and #8!!! This gives me an idea. I am trying to make a decision on pillows, maybe I should ask for opinions?!!! Kathysue
Megan {Honey We're Home} says
I'm so bad at making these decisions, but I think I'd go with #4. They are all great fabrics. And are you telling me I have a looong time to go with the food ending up on the floor??!! 🙂
Clark, Jolie and Avery says
Since the unique feature of the chair is the circle hardware on back, you need a pattern that is either circular or geometric to go with it (tie it in visually) and the drapes. I pick #6 or #9. Comment by Clark
heather says
2 or 8. #8 is my fave. all our pretty but you need some color! otherwise, it the room is too brown.
Jennifer says
Hi – I just used #1 in blue on our kitchen bench
http://www.bigdandme.com/2011/05/kitchen-bench/
we used the outdoor fabric and scotchguarded it – so far so good, the peanut butter my two year old ground into it came off easy with some Shout stain spray.
Good luck!

Number 5 is my pick 🙂

#2 or #4! I'm sure you will make it beautiful whichever one you pick.
CalypsoInTheCountry says
Ok, I came back today to look again…I think I pick #4 if you want to stay more neutral and #8 because I like mixing in the green but it also has a little of the curtain color in there. But I must say, ALL of them are absolutely beautiful. You have a gorgeous dining room to begin with so you really can't go wrong!
Chris -East Coast Suburbanite says
I love 4,6, and 8. I think it's because it seems like you already have a bold pattern in the window treatments, I'd like to see if you can mimic some of the view of the outdoors and from your botanical prints into the seat fabric. They area all great choices! I can't wait to see what you choose.
Andrea B. says
I'm all about number 8. That's my pick!!
Anonymous says
I like numbers three, six and eight. Because you have striped currtains and I feel like it would be nice to break up the monentany of lines/strips on the other fabrics.
Leslie says
#7 ….. love it!!! That's my vote! I also love how your dining room is coming together and u did an amazing job setting up for your son's bday!!! So fun!!
Lisa says
I say 6 or 9! 🙂
InteriorGroupie says
I have the same chandelier! I like 2 and 3 for the chair fabrics. I love 9 but I think it's too graphic with the stripes. I think a smaller pattern will balance things out more and hide food / stains easier!
Miller Family says
Please, please, please tell me where you got your curtains in your dining room? I just love them so much!
Chassity (Look Linger Love) says
Hmmmm, it's hard but i think I vote number 1. Also,, thanks so much for the shoutout girlfriend. I owe you an email response to your blog comment too 🙂
