I know many families have already taken the plunge back to school while others are still hanging on to summer days. We do not go back for another three weeks, but I have already started gathering supplies and thinking about structuring our school year. Summer has been such a relaxed and wonderful time so taken on a schedule will be quite the adjustment! As a former fifth grade teacher, this time of year brings back such fantastic memories of getting my classroom ready. Now, instead of a classroom, I will be getting our home ready for school. I will share much of what we do over the next couple of weeks. Today, I wanted to share with you the darling Back to School Cupcake Kit that is floating around. Adorable. Wouldn’t take much to whip up some cupcakes and create a special dessert for your children {or even the neighbors for a nice back to school treat} This darling kit was spotted over at Cupcakes & Swirls. Go Check Out My Guest Post I also think it is very nice to think of the teachers on the first day. I know first hand just how much love and work goes into prepping for the beginning of school. A small token of appreciation and a hand written note will go a long way. Head on over to Courtney’s blog {Courtney Out Loud} to see a couple of ways that you can thank the teachers for a great first day back to school. { And if all else fails . . . you can never go wrong with a $5 Starbucks card! Just sayin!}. Courtney is one stylish blogger who I had the pleasure of meeting in San Francisco. He is running a great series this week about getting ready for the school year. You’ll definitely want to check out all the posts. Have a great day, everyone!

OMGosh that cupcake kit is sooo cute! We homeschool but always do a little party at the beginning of each new year! I would love to get my hands on these! Thanks for sharing!

We are preparing for school too. Would love to have three more weeks, but it has gotten progressively more difficult to get any work done, and it is time for the darlings to lean again. Definitely staying tuned to your tips for being prepared.

Love the cupcake kit! We always used to have a special back to school day when the kids were little with friends, and our neighborhood pool has an ice cream sunday social for them. I always loved having the moms for brunch the first week.

We are back in full swing here—the kids started about a week ago and I think some cute cupcakes for a Monday afternoon treat (or even before school-haha-kids wouldn't mind) is too cute. I don't have any kids yet, but I am storing this idea away.
I love your ideas for treating teachers. This is the first year I haven't taught school (I did it for 8 years) and I have to say—getting the smallest treat from a parent is awesome (especially a $5 starbucks card)! 🙂

I don't think I knew you taught 5th grade…that's Jackson's grade this year. There were a LOT of books!
Loved your tips…think it's cool to send a gift Friday (end of first week)? And good gosh, you have another 3 weeks of summer?! what kind of school year you guys running out there?!
Courtney {a thoughtful place} says
Cassie, I think it's a great idea to give a gift at the end of the week. And probably a great way to say thank you for a smooth week {hopefully!}. Fifth grade is the best. I LOVE that age. Does he like science? The science is great that year.

I didn't know you taught 5th grade, Courtney! I think it is so wonderful that you think of the teachers on the first day. I think often teachers are so under appreciated and a little token of kindness goes such a long way. My Dad just retired from 47 years of teaching. I'm popping over to Courtney's blog now!

Cute idea…we don't start school here until after Labor Day so we still have 2 more weeks of summer fun! Thanks for the idea of treating the teacher at the beginning of school. I usually just wait till the holidays and end of school to give them something!

I always bust out the Starbucks card- quick, easy, and always appreciated! Man – I miss Cali – school should start in September!!!! Going back to school in August is just plain criminal! Enjoy your last few weeks!
