Good morning. I hope your week is off to a great start. We are moving forward with basement plans so I am taking before photos and measurements today. I am excited to share a pretty new piece that is helping me stay more organized. I’m trying to be very intentional about what I keep in our home and how I can access it. If it’s too far out of reach, we just don’t use it.
OUR NEW DRESSER
This hallway is just off of our kitchen and dining room. I’ve been looking for a piece that would be more substantial and provide us storage. It’s taken a minute, but when I found this I knew it would be ideal. It’s timeless and something we can hold on to for a very long time.
THE BEFORE
This is what we had in this space before. This is a solid wood piece I bought from Overstock (no longer sold). It was originally white and I painted it black. In fact it was one of my first projects in this home. I needed something to fill this space and it did the trick. And while it’s a lovely piece I never loved the very angular lines and it is quite narrow for the space. The hall is quite wide and I knew we could put something deeper here. And while it looked cute, it offered zero storage for us. It just felt like a wasted opportunity but I wanted to wait until I fell in love with something special.
I’ve since moved it to the sitting room in our bedroom and I’ll share that soon.
SO MUCH BETTER
The drawers offer ample storage for all of our table linens. We love to entertain and our current situation had us storing all of the linens/candles in a nearby closet and a cabinet in the dining area. The linens in the closet were getting lost in baskets and it was hard to see what I had. We did a pretty thorough purge when we moved, but it still was hard to find things. Now I have all of our napkins, runner, table cloths and candles in this dresser. And because it is right near our table, it makes it so easy.
It’s safe to say I love stripes. So funny that most of our napkins are either striped or solid.
This marble dish looks lovely as an accent piece. In fact, I just ordered one for a house warming gift for a dear friend. I like the warm tones.
BEAUTIFUL LINES
It’s the beautiful curves and lines that I love the most. And the legs on this dresser. The lamp is one I’ve had for a while. I’m not sure you can order it, but it may be available in store.
ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX
This Kathy Kuo piece (#5) is beautiful but I can’t believe this Amazon one. It has wonderful reviews and is so similar.
The more we settle into this home, the more I realize that pieces that double as storage really are a value add. It’s so nice to be able to easily access our things. I hope this round up is helpful if you are looking for pieces that are beautiful and offer plenty of storage.

So pretty! I have a sideboard that has a bunch of random stuff in it, and I cram all of our linens into a drawer in our kitchen. Your post has inspired me to clean out the sideboard and use that instead for table linens.

I do the same thing! We have an antique chest in our dining area. I’m able to store linens, a few platters, candles, a few holiday items that are used in that room, etc.
