Thank you for all of your kind emails and messages about our beach rental, Relax Away on 30A. We’ve had lots of questions about sources so I wanted to begin with our favorite space, the primary bedroom. The tall ceilings and large windows won us over and we love that the home backs up to the state forest. The overall design is quite neutral so that the trees can shine. I used a combination of ivory, white and taupe and was very cognizant of the budget when designing this room.
LAYERS OF NEUTRALS
Welcome to the neutral bedroom. While the room itself is not very large, the windows and tall ceilings give it a more grand feel. I hope these pieces help you pull together a neutral space of your own.
This ivory indoor/outdoor rug is soft underfoot but will be easy to clean. The subtle pattern adds so much texture to the room. The best selling bed is so beautiful in person. We ordered it in the Classic Linen Talk color and love it.
- nightstand (a favorite of mine)
- lamps – fantastic size and design
- faux plant – just a touch of greenery
THE DETAILS
I love these waffle knit pillow covers. They come in so many colors, are soft, and add a good amount of texture. These are the ivory ones. I always use these pillow inserts. Remember to always order the insert 2″ larger than the pillow cover. For this space, we used 26″ covers with 28″ inserts.
The large lumbar pillow can be found here. And the throw at the end of the bed is my favorite addition to any room.
The handmade Juju hat above the bed is one of my all time favorite decor items and can be found here.
FULL LENGTH MIRROR
I think it’s always important to have a full length mirror when staying in a rental. This one ties in the other gold elements in the room. We also have these luggage racks in the two king bedrooms (in each closet).
A sound machine is also nice for guests who might want to use it. There is one on the nightstand (over 60K great reviews).
TOUCH OF GOLD HARDWARE
This dresser offers ample storage and was not difficult to put together. Sure, it took some time, but it came together nicely. I swapped out the hardware for these gold knobs.
THAT MORNING LIGHT
The morning light that comes in is so pretty. We used our favorite drapery panels in this space. The trick to the panels being able to open and close smoothly is glide tape. This stuff is magic. No more getting caught on the lip of the rod segments. And with ceilings this high (12′), it’s even more important that they open/close with ease. This gold rod is my go to when hanging heavier drapes. You can’t beat the quality. I use these curtain rings. We also switched out the fan for something more coastal looking.
Let me know if I can answer any questions about this room and the sources. Shared more of the story here.
