I can barely believe that Thanksgiving is this week. When did that happen? We had a busy weekend and my sister and I completed our last client install of the year. It is now time to enjoy the holidays! We are hosting and while we may not have our menu set in stone, our table is ready to go! I am really excited about the rustic feel of it this year. I wanted our table to look as if it were tossed together without much effort. And I have to say. It really was crazy simple to do. I used things I had on hand and only spent $10 {burlap and flowers}. All of the greens on the table are fresh and came from our yard. And I must warn you. There are a ton of photos. I sort of got carried away when the natural light was pouring in. It was just too much fun snapping away. In keeping with the rustic theme, I filled mason jars with fresh greens. The only thing I purchased was some baby’s breath. While I haven’t used it in years, I think it adds just the right amount of delicacy to the table. It needed a tiny bit of white and a soft touch. … I sprayed these chargers with chalkboard paint a couple of years ago. I love the casual feel they bring to the table. I alternated wrapping the napkin with cream ribbon and Burberry ribbon. The leaves are tucked in to add some green. I was also careful not to take too much care in folding the napkin perfectly . . . nor are they ironed. I really wanted it to look casual and easy. I used a fresh leaf to write each guest’s name with a gold paint pen. They are just resting on the charger. I am not even sure what type of plant this is, but I love the branches. And the leaves are variegated which adds depth to the table. These pretty brown glasses were a gift from my sister some years ago. I know she bought them at William Sonoma but I am not sure if they still carry them. They are a nice warm addition to a fall table. … Because we are in Southern California, there is a strong chance we will be able to have our French doors open for at least part of the day. While the nights get chilly, the days are still very mild. I chose to set the wine glasses aside. They are next to some fresh greens and resting on a tray I made here. If anyone chooses to have wine with dinner, they will be close at hand. … I snapped the following with my iPhone just so you could see the table as it grew darker. It was easier to see the chalk writing. You can see the twine is just lightly tied around the utensils. I didn’t want it to look too styled or perfect. … My brother was a big fan of Burberry so having a little bit of it on our table is a nice way for us to feel closer to him. And I am crazy excited when I look at the above photo. Some of you may have noticed we have a new farmhouse table. {on sale right now!}. I love love love it. While we really enjoyed our previous table, this one extends to a greater length which is key when you love to entertain large groups. Even with ten people around the table there is still plenty of elbow room. The burlap runner new sew!! It is one long piece and I just folded it in thirds. I like the look of it being folded over and it makes it thicker. I bought 3 1/2 yards and with a Hobby Lobby coupon it was only about $7.00. To make the ends look nice, you just rip away four or five threads and it gives it a fun frayed edge. Easy breezy. Rather than write the same thing on each charger {or use them as place cards} I chose to write out a sentence. The thought reads, “Gather together as family to give thanks today and always.” Because all of the fresh greens came from our yard, I will be able to replace them on Thursday as we prepare to host! The nice thing about setting the table this early is that we get to enjoy looking at it for a few days. I think it puts us all in the holiday spirit. We are all looking forward to gathering around the table an sharing stories and memories. It’s on of my very favorite nights of the year. And my son has finally come to terms with the idea that we are serving turkey instead of ribs. He seems to be handling it pretty well. Boy loves his ribs! Enjoy your day! Love the new table! I think the greens you were not able to identify may be variegated Chinese privet – not that it matters. 🙂 Chuckled at G-man's disappointment at not having ribs for Thanksgiving!

Beautiful table, Courtney! Do you put your turkey and side dishes on the table, on your side buffet or serve from the kitchen? I am hosting just a small group of four and I'm unsure whether to serve from the table, my breakfast bar or the kitchen.
