Three cheers for the weekend, my friends! I am definitely easing back into life since returning from Bora Bora. I have spent this week with my kiddos who are on Spring break. The icing on the cake is that my sister is visiting from Singapore. And because the kiddos return to school next week we can do some serious shopping together. Speaking of, there were some key pieces I took with me on vacation that are worth mentioning. Without a doubt I over packed so I thought it would be good to share the things I was really glad I took. I will do a follow up post with more photos and more travel tips. Today, I’ll stick to the fashion! It’s the most fun, right?!
There is no question we took too much! Having said that, with being able to check two bags and carry on two bags, we didn’t mind filling up the suitcases! But it’s safe to say I could have taken just one. Let’s start with the long plane ride, shall we . . .
So if you’re wondering how long the trip is, here is the breakdown. From CA to Tahiti, it’s about an 8.5 hour plan ride via Air Tahiti Nui. And it’s a red eye so we arrived at LAX around 8:30 to prep for our midnight flight. The LAX international terminal is fantastic. They redid it about a year ago and there are really fun spots for dinner and drinks. Great place to kick off the vacation. Knowing it was a long trip, I wore something super comfortable. You can’t beat a maxi skirt and t-shirt. It’s truly like pajamas.
Once in Tahiti, it’s a five hour layover {no getting around that} and then a beautiful one hour flight to Bora Bora. While in the Tahiti airport, I swapped out my dark traveling outfit for a pink sundress. Much better for the one hour flight and boat ride to the hotel.
Once you land in Bora Bora, the hotel {whichever hotel you choose} greets you with a lei and welcomes you onto the boat which takes you to your resort. Thank goodness for giant sunglasses. They hid the bags under the eyes from a very weary traveler. I learned that I am incapable of sleeping on red eye flights.
This dress has been around for a couple of seasons and is a nice loose fitting option. It was great to roll up in my carry on so I could slip it on in the airport bathroom. I wear a lace bralette under it which is very comfy. I have the turquoise one, too. And for reference, I am wearing the small.
I never travel with jewelry on, but I took the above necklace and this one on the trip.
It was the crystal clear turquoise water that had me from hello. You really couldn’t get enough of it. Many of you have asked if the gold sandals are comfy and the answer is yes! I never would have taken them or flown in them if not. I am big on the comfy factor.
This is the necklace my hubby surprised me with before our trip. He chose the turquoise color so that when we came back it would remind me of the water. The guy thinks ahead. Means so much more now.
I showed you this dress before. I am really smitten with it. There is something really different and fun about it. I loved having this on the trip. In such a warm and pretty environment, white was a crisp and cool color to wear. These heels are beyond comfortable. They are not inexpensive but excellent quality and they feel like slippers {they are extremely light which helps when every airport is weighing the luggage}.
I stuck to bikinis from here for the most part. Easy to mix and match tops and bottoms. They run very small so keep that in mind. I wear a medium in the bottoms and a large in the top {and I am not very large up top, ladies}.
A white sundress is my very favorite cover up. It goes with every swimsuit and you can carry a fun bag with no problem. This exact one has not hit the site yet, but this one and this one are super similar.
Can’t say enough about the striped bag. I carried it with me on the plane both coming and going and it came to the beach with us every day. It has three compartments and is just super darn cute. And it’s small enough to fit under the seat in front of you on the plane. I really didn’t need daytime outfits as we wore swimsuits all day and then I showered and put on a dress for evening.
With all that I took, the above is all that I wore! Hope it helps next time you travel somewhere tropical and warm!
I found this dress at Nordstrom Rack just a day or two before I left. I was so happy I bought it and took it on the trip. It was really nice to have one long option. I actually wore it two of the nights with these shoes. And when you are out at night . . . with the mosquitos. . . covering up the legs is a great idea! I couldn’t link the exact one, but I found some other cute strapless options below. And I did find this tie dye strapless one and this really cute one {awesome colors}. Rounded up more fun dresses below
My best accessory by far is this guy! I love him madly and am so thankful to him for planning this trip. It’s a week we will never ever forget.
On an unrelated note, one of my favorite lace tops is now only $20. Get it before it’s gone. Some other well priced darling tanks are below. Click each one for details.
And now we are off to watch our little guy play baseball and then we are cooking and prepping to host a belated Easter tomorrow! Now that my sister is in town it’s a perfect chance to celebrate as a family.

I always joke about running off to Bora Bora. You're the first person I've heard of thats been there, and running off sounds like an even better idea now that I've seen these pictures! I have to ask about the striped bag. I have the same one (I bought mine at Lulus.com) and had planned to use it for my upcoming trip to London. But I'm very much a person who likes their bag at their feet not in the overhead, and it seems like it'll be too big. Does it fit under the seat?

What a wonderful trip you had and Ryan did an amazing job planning it down to every detail. I love how he gave so much thought to the color of your necklace and the turquoise reminding you of the water. So so special. Speaking of water…that water is the most gorgeous blue. I like that little white coverup with the low back. How about that mint bike!! The coral maxi was a great find. You look stunning in that. Bora Bora is truly a magical and romantic place. Have fun this weekend with your sister! xo

Stunning landscape! I would have to say, my favorite looks from your trip were: 1) Pink dress + gold sandals + gorgeous shades and 2) White dress + turquoise necklace + pink clutch. You looked amazing, Courtney!
