Say it with Pumpkins

October 13, 2011 by Courtney 20 Comments

Last week I posted about very simple ideas that we could all pull off for fall. I have slowly made my way through the ideas and now have some conversational pumpkins welcoming visitors to the door. While the darling inspiration photo boasts the house address, I decided to write “Happy Fall” on ours like Lisa from Shine Your Light did. I couldn’t resist those fairytale pumpkins that Trader Joes was offering. They are perfect for stacking since they are more flat. IMG_4642 IMG_4632 Take a look at Lisa’s cute rendition. I love her writing. It’s beautiful. Finally switched up the summer wreath as well . . . IMG_4644   IMG_4649 To go from summer to fall with the grapevine wreath I removed the blue hydrangeas and added a fall vine and some leaves. They were all things I had on hand in my “Fall Décor” box. Nothing new! IMG_4652 IMG_4675 Looking at the photos, I am thinking I need a layer of leaves or greenery under the fairytale pumpkin. Uggh! Can someone magically make that happen! I also took the advice of other bloggers that have gone before me, and used a black permanent marker rather than paint. It was done in two minutes and was so much easier to draw with than a paintbrush. IMG_4656IMG_4666IMG_4671 The only thing that is really cracking me up is that we are all decked out for fall and yet we have been hit by a major heat wave. It’s 95 degrees today and the bouganvilla is even still in bloom. Here is a sneak peek at some new pillows  I made for our front porch as well. Maybe the  new “happy fall” pumpkins will also welcome in some cooler temps! A girl can dream. What about you? Have you busted out the permanent marker on your pumpkins yet?

Believe it or not…I bought pumpkins and gourds this past weekend and they are rolling around in the back of my car!! I haven't had a minute to make any kind of cute arrangements or anything! I also like to wait awhile because the squirrels get at them right away. Love your cute pumpkins…the Fairy Tale ones are SO cute and I like how you have written FALL on the one…have to try that. We are having warm temps, too, 70's everyday. I want fall!!

    XO,
    Janie

We are off to the pumpkin patch this weekend! Finally!! I've used paint markers on ours before…so much easier than a brush for sure!

I loved all the pumpkins at Trader Joe's but I resisted the temptation. The ones you found are really cute!

My mom just called to tell me how crazy hot it is! All I know is when I come out in December it is going to be so nice to get a week of warm weather before coming back to the freezing temps in KY. Your porch looks so welcoming!

Love it. I am so much more of a harvest and fall person than a Halloween person. Everything about it makes me warm.

Love your pumpkins! A nice warm way to greet your friends and guests. I also love the pillow you made! Pretty fabric! I didn't know you sewed. We've had high 80's up here. Last week I was bundled up, a few days later I was using my umbrella and now back to skirts and flip flops.

That is pretty much the only way to go when it's still so hot out! It's a "Save the Pumpkins" campaign…Stop the cruelty! Make marks, not cuts!!! (c: And they really do turn out darling!
