Hi all! We enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family and friends. We packed in a lot including a TaeKwonDo birthday party for my son, breakfast with my parents, household chores and a relaxing day with neighbors. All in all, I am wishing every weekend boasted a long three days. Glorious. I alluded to my home being a disaster on Instagram. It really has been. And not just a mess here or there. I am trying to let go a bit with things being picked up all of the time . . . but I struggle with the balance. As I am much better about ignoring the messes and focusing on the together time with the kids, it quickly spins out of control. Do you find that to be true? {one clean spot in our home while the rest was a mess!} So this weekend we started digging our way out of the piles. My daughter and I purged my son’s room {with his permisssion} while he played hockey with his daddy. It’s soooooo much easier and faster when he is happy and entertained elsewhere. And he was so cute and grateful walking back into his clean room. He drew at his table for over an hour. I think seeing the top of it again was a welcome change! All of this purging lead to us look around the house and realizing we could switch some things up. We played musical mirrors and this is happened in the living room. Excuse the blurry IG photo. But I am so much happier with the round mirror in this space. I knew that I needed a round mirror instead of the one we had, but it just never rose to the top of our to-do list. It serves to break up all of the rectangles in the room. We hung the mirror a tad higher than we normally would have as we plan to build up the mantel a bit. Also on the to-do list. This mirror was hanging near our piano in a little music corner we have. In it’s place we hung the guitar artwork that used to be over our bed. It is a special photo that my husband took and it’s perfect for our music room. Sometimes it just takes shuffling things around to create fresh spaces. So save yourself some money and start looking around your home. What can you switch up? And come on back tomorrow! I will be announcing the winner of the Grand Giveaway: HomeGoods Bedroom Makeover Contest! I can’t wait. Let’s get this makeover started!

Oh, how true about the messes. If we don't constantly keep our house picked up it gets out of control so quickly!
Love your subway art in your living room, by the way.

So out of control. It's such a fine line. And thank you . . .all the streets we have lived on since childhood.

I am kind of obsessed with your living room from this picture. Do you more pictures from different angles?

Love the change. And yes, sometimes just moving something from one room to another makes such a huge impact…and is CHEAP!!
Courtney {a thoughtful place} says
Cheap is right! And I swear it feels like something new when you move it to a new spot, right?! You're eyes see it again.

That round mirror looks really nice there Courtney! I just played shuffling around with throw pillow in our house instead of buying new ones. It worked for now! Glad you had a great holiday weekend!

Gracious, I am with you. I spent – no exaggeration – two full days cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms last weekend. The balance is so hard. My daughters, especially the older (5) LOVED her clean room. I decided to completely simplify and just put a big basket in each of their rooms where end-of-the-day pickup should take 2 minutes. And hopefully this will mean we can keep from their rooms turning into trash piles where I try not to twitch when I walk in there but also don't want to freak about little things. I DEFINITELY struggle with the balance 🙂

I totally need to do the toy clean out (again)! Seems likes it's about an every 6 month process. The round mirror looks great!
