Simple and Sweet Cake Toppers

May 29, 2014 by Courtney 11 Comments

Raise your hand if you barely have time to catch your breath this time of year. For us, it is one celebration right after the next. For that reason, simple and sweet ideas are key. I wanted to share some go to cake topper ideas that you can pull off quickly. pinklemonadecake We hosted a celebration for my daughter’s First Communion the very next morning after her big birthday party. To say we were tired and a bit done with party planning would be an understatement. So when it came to planning this cake . . it was all about easy. I picked up a pink lemonade cake from our local store and stumbled upon these sugar flowers at Hobby Lobby.  I had no idea you could buy these. Such a great deal and they are handmade. They were $6 for 4. I took them out of the package and placed three on top of the cake. Done. I appreciate simple and chic so it did the trick. Thought  I would round up a few more quick and easy ideas for when you want to keep it low maintenance but still have a really pretty dessert. heartcaketoppers via lovecake via pinkflowers via This may be my favorite. My mom often put fresh flowers on cakes growing up so it brings back really sweet memories. Four little roses from your garden and it’s done! Beautiful cake stand, too! ranibowcake via Every year we make a rainbow cake for the first day of school. It really is a fun tradition that we all look forward to and I love looking back at photos from each year. For this I just print out the year in school each child started and tape it to a straw. Done and done! communion Celebrating this little one and her faith was such a special day for our family. She continues to amaze me with her zest for life and I adore the constant smile on her face. I remember receiving a cross for my First Communion so we gave our daughter one, too. I looked high and low. I thought they would be easier to find. I found a very dainty, feminine one here {great for adults and children} in case you are looking. They all come with special messages. Enjoy your day.

Such sweet, pretty, simple ideas, Courtney. I often prefer this kind of thing to over the top decorating. I'm no pastry chef so they never really come out like I want anyway!
