Simple Mantel: Nature + A Touch of Glam

July 29, 2014 by Courtney 15 Comments

After switching out mirrors in our living room, I was craving a more paired down mantel. I like to keep things fresh and simple. I wanted to infuse just a bit of color to play off the rest of the space and was looking for something a bit more fun and unique to place on the candle holders. These sweet little bowls accomplish just that. The colors pull from the other fabrics in the room but aren’t too over powering. athoughtfulplacemantel2 athoughtfulplaceaccessories1 athoughtfulplacemantel3 There is nothing more simple and elegant than fresh cut greens. We are blessed with a magnolia tree and the branches are always so pretty. They are a nice contrast with the neutral mantel. athoughtfulplacemantel4 athoughtfulplacemantel1 These sweet bowls were an easy way to tie in the color we have going on in the room and yet still keep it simple. We are all about simple. The magnolia branches add the warmth and natural element I crave in my spaces. And a special shout out to our late Grandfather who made the most gorgeous wooden trucks for our son. They are a treasure and we love playing with them. Homegoods: Mirror,  candle holders, bowls, and the & sign. I am working in partnership with HomeGoods and the Happy By Design program. HomeGoods provided product but the passion, ideas, and opinions are always my own.

So simple and refreshing, love it. I can't understand how some people don't like to use mirrors above a mantel, I think it makes the room feel so open.

I just love the handmade truck! What a work of art. I am sure that brings wonderful and special memories of your late Grandfather. Your mantle is very pretty Courtney. I looked out the kitchen window this morning and was greeted by a beautiful magnolia bloom that opened on our tree!
