So with this busy busy time comes the fun part of delivering gifts to friends, neighbors, and teachers. This year, I used mason jars to house whatever gift seemed appropriate. I used chalkboard paint to personalize the jar {and I figure it will be reused for sugar, flour, candy, crayons . . pretty much anything}. I filled them with peppermint bark {normally make my own but this year I simplified and went with the Costco version. It’s just as yummy} and dark chocolate star cookies from Trader Joes. For the teachers, I added movie tickets or Starbucks cards. To wrap them up I just tied a big bow and added a gift tag printed from here. I am in love with these tags and will use them again for sure. I also added a piece of chalk to the bow. Here is a finished product { I made about ten of them but forgot to take a photo of them once they were all completed. Oops!} I handed most of them out as favors this year when we hosted parties. 
I signed our family name on each of the tags.

I used the mason jars from Michael’s. They are $2.00 each. You can really go with any glass container. I like to keep the cost low so that I can insert a gift card or something special for teachers. 
Tape off a large rectangle with painter’s tape. Just be sure to really press down tightly. Apparently, painter’s tape and I are pretty much “stuck like glue” these days. Not sure what the deal is! 
I used a piece of cardboard and cut out a rectangle. This is just good to hold over the jar when spray painting to prevent any from getting on the rest of the jar. 
Here is what my setup looks like when I paint!! I spray in the garage on a blue tarp. And I always use gloves. I am all about zero clean-up. 
I do two coats of paint about 20 minutes apart. And here they are before they were wrapped up. I made a white circle out of cardstock to go on each lid. You could write a cute message on this circle as well! 
One last look at a finished product. What have you done for your friends and neighbors? Or do you have a clever idea for filling these. 
What is peppermint bark? I'm guessing chocolate mint confectionary by the look of it? The jars are fabulous. Another great idea, cost effective, and recyclable. Thanks for the tutorial and tag ideas. I had the same idea in the past. But I have taken chalk slide. As a gift and the kitchen the glasses are class.

Love those. We made chalkboard flower pots for spring gifts one year for the girls teachers. I love the Mason jar idea. Since the girls are older now, we don't do the "teacher" gifts anymore. And, I just have one dear friend that I make up a basket for she and her family each year. A lot of us girlfriends decided long ago, to simplify in this area so we weren't stressed out. We'll all go to lunch after the holidays.

Another great project, Courtney! I have yet to try chalkboard paint. This would be a good small project for me to give it a try. This is a great gift and those tags are fabulous. Peppermint bark is one of my favorites! Is it farily easy to make?
