Sweet Treat Bags for Any Occasion

February 11, 2011 by Courtney 25 Comments

I am taking a break from the usual Friday Eye Candy to show you some treat bags I put together this week. If you saw my post on great Valentine ideas, then you would have seen some sweet treat bags. I was so inspired by Ashley from All I Create. I knew I could pull these together using much of what I had around the house. I was looking to give my MOPS table group {amazing women who have all become such dear friends} a little something to wish them a happy Valentine’s Day. The great thing about the way these treats are packaged is that you can tailor it to any holiday or occasion. Furthermore, you can insert any treat you can dream up. If time is limited . . . then a store bought treat works great. I chose to dip some buttercream cookies in chocolate to make them more festive. IMG_9521 I used Buttercream Waffle cookies from Trader Joes {they are AMAZING}. Dipped in chocolate they are pretty darn scrumptious. I just melted the chocolate chips in the microwave {I used a mug so that the chocolate was deep and I could dunk each cookie}. Then I sprinkled a few little candies on top and let them dry on a sheet of wax paper. DO NOT move them until they have completely hardened. I learned the hard way {sorry MOPS girls!!!!}. 2011-02-09 I used clear treat bags that I picked up at Michael’s. Once your treat is inside, just fold over and tap shut. Then use any scrap paper to make the folded cover. I used pieces that were 5 inches. Just fold in half and crease well. While holding it on the bag, hole punch twice. Tie ribbon or string to secure the package.   IMG_9511   By the way. Am I the last person on Earth to know about Spray Adhesive {thank you Megan}. This stuff rocks. I used my Silhouette machine to cut the flowers {a shape that came with the software}. I used Microsoft Publisher to create the personalized labels { I print them on plain computer paper, cut them in a shape of a circle and attach with adhesive}. The font is Papyrus.  If you didn’t’ want to go to the trouble of printing something, a cute hand written not would do the trick as well.  Another great tip is Costco! You can have stickers printed with writing and a picture. They are darling and really inexpensive. I just went to a party where the sticker was attached to a giant lollipop. It had a sweet photo of the birthday girl and said, “Thank you for coming to my party.” Those stickers would work really well on these if you are not up for making your own. IMG_9523IMG_9560 After gluing the labels on, you are good to go. Honestly, it was not a long process. I dipped the cookies while the children were eating lunch and then packaged them during naptime. I will definitely revisit this and use them for party favors as well. I don’t know about you, but if it’s packaged in a cute way . . . I am all over it. IMG_9564 I think these treat bags could work for friends, teacher gifts, or party favors. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!! See you back here on Valentine’s Day! I love little gift ideas and pretty wrapping like this, Courtney. And Trader Joe's – all my local ones are just too far away – I need to go on a journey and get some of those waffle cookies!

You are always full of wonderful inspirations my friend.

Very cute ideas!!! I am not much of a crafter… or baker… love to decorate but I am not very good at things like this. I need to try to learn some creativity in different areas I think….

Did I already know that you belong to a MOPS group?! I led my local group here for two years! I will always refer to them as my "mommy therapy" and those friendships are some of the strongest Ive ever made!
