Welcome to Five Days of Five Minute Projects! I am excited to kick of this week and to begin sharing a wonderful collection of quick and simple projects. We will be joined all week by talented bloggers who have made a big impact with very little time! Just in time for summer when you are busy doing fun things with friends and family. The idea is to offer you a wide range of ideas that will come together in no time. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… Idea #1: Sentimental Addition to a Child’s Room My daughter just turned five and I have been in awe of how quickly the time as flown by. She and I had so much fun going through some of her tiny clothes from when she was a baby. We decided to hang her very first swimsuit in her room on a satin hanger. I love the meaning it holds and she loves seeing how small she once was. We also found a darling little white sweater dress that I will hang once the summer season passes. So simple and such a fun addition to her room. Idea #2: Fabric Covered Tray Hi all! I’m Megan from Honey We’re Home and a big, big fan of Courtney and A Thoughtful Place! It’s a daily read for me for sure! On my blog, I write about our home that we moved into last summer and our incredibly sweet first baby boy, James. I love a project that takes minimal time to complete because it’s instant gratification! When Courtney asked me to share a 5 minute project, my fabric-covered tray instantly came to mind. The most difficult and potentially time consuming part of this project is choosing your favorite fabric to cover the tray with. Of course, pretty wrapping paper works too or scrapbook paper, depending on the size of your tray. I used a tray I found at Target. I love it because it’s huge, about 26 x 16 and fits perfectly on the large ottoman in our living room. I simply lay the fabric on the tray and penciled where I needed to cut it. My fabric is from fabric.com. Thanks for letting me share this simple and quick project with your readers Courtney! Also, if you wanted to go the extra mile, a craft store can cut a piece of plexi glass to fit the top of the tray so that it’s more user friendly for drinks. I ended up doing that with the tray in our living room and it’s held up really well! Idea #3: Monogrammed Doormat I absolutely love this next idea as well. It’s from Sara over at Simply Sara. She gathered three supplies to whip this doormat out in no time:
- Ikea $4 rug {I love that price tag}
- Outdoor Spaces Krylon spraypaint, using the color “Earth
- Painter’s Tape
After taping and setting down the “G” stencil this is how it turned out So cute and so simple. It sure beats the price tag of some of the ones you see in the magazines. You can see Sara’s post on this right here. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. I will be back tomorrow with four more quick ideas for you. And if you have a moment, pop on over to Shelli’s blog where I am guest posting today. Shelli’s house is beyond amazing. If you haven’t already seen it, you will definitely fall in love with it. Here is a little peek at her daughter’s room and her home office . . . amazing. Head on over to check it out and I will see you back here tomorrow!
