Tangerine Room Makeover: New Lamps

March 14, 2013 by Courtney 20 Comments

I am back today with a bit of progress! While we have a long way to go as far as finishing the big girl room, I fell in love with a pair of lamps and had to share. I had in mind what I wanted for the space in my daughter’s room but when I stumbled upon these lamps and shades from Target it was love at first sight. They colors are on the shades are perfect for her new room and I love that they introduce a new pattern into the room. I really gravitate towards mixing patterns especially when the overall fell of a room is a blank canvas. This room gets flooded with natural light which plays so well with the white walls and the pops of color. ……………….a new pair of lamps   IMG_0489 You may remember that we first had the glossy white Expedit in her closet. I posted about it here. But we decided to make that part of her closet a desk area, so the Expedit has a new home. It is perfect on this wall and hosts all of her toys and most of her books. I will do some sort of wall storage for the rest of her books.     IMG_0491IMG_0493 I plan on doing a paint treatment to the bins that hold her books and will most likely hang the Minted print. While I love the look of it leaning against the wall, I would like to visually fill the space with more of a gallery wall effect.   IMG_0496 I really do have a crush on these shades. They just make me smile and remind me of Riley’s sunny disposition. They go so well with the artwork, too. I tried to get a shot of the ceiling in as well. Yes, I was most definitely laying on the ground to get these funky shots!   IMG_0522 IMG_0524 The chevron frame is one we have had for a while. The white box is for some of her special items and the yellow bowl will be perfect for hair ties that come out just before bed each night {hoping they make it in there and not on the floor or down the hallway as per usual!} ………………………….the details collage So while this part of the room is not complete I wanted to share the progress. I will be back to share more of this wall once I hang the artwork and add detail to her storage bins. In case you have missed any posts you can click on the links below. I am in love with this color scheme. Usually I gravitate towards the blues, purples, and teal for girls but this is amazing and I wish I had such a fun room as a child! Love the lamps and such a great idea to keep the walls white and paint the ceiling instead.

first of all, i adore your blog and your sense of style. the simplicity is soothing. when i'm stressed out, i come check out your blog. seriously! i'm loving how this room is coming together. i'm about to start re-doing my stepdaughter's room and i really appreciate your "keepin' it real" about the process. i continually fight perfectionism (which manifests itself in my never *starting* projects) and yet, i'm forging ahead. i know that it will be messy, quite possibly frustrating and and will likely look worse before it gets better. it's nice to follow along with you!

Those lamps are fun! I bought that same print in the cloth napkins for my Easter brunch. The colors are wonderful. I love the photo of the lamps with the peek of the ceiling. They were made for Riley's room.

The lamps shades are perfect! Watching Riley's room makeover is giving me the itch to change up my daughter's room. But first I should probably finish all the other projects I started, like my kitchen, dining room and study 🙂 Have a great weekend!
