Happy Friday, friends!!! This week flew by over here and I can’t believe it’s almost the weekend. I hope you had a productive and nice week. Yesterday, I showed you my craft cart and the gold dipped place cards. Well after making the place cards, I was inspired to create a Valentine’s Day inspired table. But really, this table could be set for anything. . . a birthday, a baby shower, a Mother’s Day tea. The whole idea is that once upon a time, there was a beginning. A beginning to a special someone or relationship. Years ago, my husband and I wrote a book to our children about how we met, fell in love, and got married. It reads like a storybook and the opening line is none other than, “Once upon a time . . .!” This table was so simple to create. I found a fun tablet of scrapbook paper at Michaels. You can often find pads of paper that already have coordinating paper. That means all of the guesswork is done! I used the stripes to wrap the napkins and one piece of the floral for each placemat. The polka dots were punched from another coordinating paper. My local grocery creates the best cakes. I love them. We all know I am no Betty Crocker when it comes to baking {is she all that great of a baker?}. So store bought cakes it is! Unless it’s the back to school rainbow cake! My local grocery creates the best cakes. I love them. We all know I am no Betty Crocker when it comes to baking {is she all that great of a baker?}. So store bought cakes it is! Unless it’s the back to school rainbow cake! My trick is to roll with a scrumptious store made cake and make it look really pretty. This time I added three pink roses and gold glittery circles. I made them the same way that I made the gold dipped place cards. I attached the skewers to the back with coordinating washi tape. The “Once Upon a Time” was printed on the pad of paper I bought and I just cut it out and made this for the top of the cake. I made one for all of you but I am trying to figure out how to make it a printable! Working on it! Any tips, anyone?! I added a mini clothespin and lemon leaf to each place setting. More on those here. If you create a similar table, mixing a floral paper and a striped paper {in the same color family} will always work. You can also mix in a small geometric print as well. It’s just like mixing fabrics for pillows in a bedroom or living room. So with a combination of scrapbook paper, fresh flowers and a cake, you can pull together a very sweet and romantic table. I hope I’ve inspired you to create something special for someone in your life! Have a great Friday! See you back here tomorrow for Saturday Shopping. It’s going to be a good one! So lovely. It's just fresh and pretty. The cake looks delicious, and I love the pink roses and gold glitter (who doesn't love glitter?)!
I love that you wrote how you and your husband met and your love story. Did you write it in some sort of journal? Both of your voices (like his and your views of the same events)? I would love to do something similar, but not sure my husband would be game 🙂

I love that you and your husband wrote a book for your kids. What a sweet idea! It's a beautiful table and that cake! So pretty and your extra touches make it extra fancy. I usually make a special dinner for hubby on Valentine's Day and have a pretty table set. I may use some of your fun ideas here!
