Weekend Wrap Up: Viva “Lost” Vegas

May 3, 2011 by Courtney 25 Comments

My hubby and I were very blessed this past weekend as we were able to leave the children in the loving care of my sister and brother in law and head to Las Vegas for some rest and relaxation.  My son thought we said “Lost Vegas “and was very curious about what we lost and why we were going so far away to find it! What we found was pure fun. The one rule we had was NO TECHNOLOGY! So other than checking in with the children, we didn’t pick up the laptops, phones, or email. BLISS! We had stayed at the Encore once before and were so impressed with the service and hotel. I must say that sitting by the pool is one of my favorite things to do in Las Vegas {that and getting all dressed up!}. The great thing about this city is that everyone you meet is in a great mood. Encore at Wynn Las Vegas — Las Vegas, United States Not a bad spot to chill, right!?   We also got super lucky on Friday night while walking by the theater at the Wynn {hotel attached to the Encore}. A lovely usher handed us two tickets to Le Reve {given to her by a couple who couldn’t make the show}.  The show started in one minute! We scurried right in and enjoyed one amazing show. WOW! It’s entirely based in water with crazy stunts and fantastic athletes. The show is based upon dreaming with the eyes open. It was crazy, amazing, and odd all rolled into one!   Yup. That’s a guy walking with another man on his back. I am telling you . . . these athletes were amazing.   It also happened to be Steve Wynn’s wedding {the guy that owns the Wynn and Encore}. So it made things even more fun since the hotel was buzzing with activity and big time stars. You can see that Clint Eastwood was his best man. Her dress is gorgeous, isn’t it?  So we weren’t exactly invited to the wedding, but it sure was fun to see all the hub bub.   The Duke and Duchess of Vegas: Wynn and his bride Andrea Hissom, at their wedding ceremony at the billionaire's Encore casino on Saturday. Actor Clint Eastwood - said to be the groom's Best Man can just be seen in the background of the picture We are always so awful about snapping photos while away. So here is a fuzzy phone picture! A self-portrait to make matters worse!  All in all, it was so fantastic to get away and enjoy ourselves for a few days. What a treat! IMAG0381   Now it’s back to the real world! We said we would finally bite the bullet and transition to the big boy bed for our son after this trip! I guess we better get going! Any great recommendations for a trundle bed??

Fun, fun! What a wonderful little get-away for the two of you. As far as trundle beds, we used Cargo Kids. Not sure if they are still around though.

What fun! I would so love to see that show. We are in desperate need of a little mini vacation right now (but it'll have to wait til school gets out at the end of the month). Can't wait to see his new big boy bed!!

Hi, there! I'm new here… I found your blog through Southern Inspired.

Can I just tell you how jealous I am? These pictures are amazing!

Although, good luck with the big boy bed. My son is just one so we haven't had to deal with that yet.

The pool area is amazing!! We're planning to go back to Vegas in the fall & we've been trying to decide where to stay. Last time we stayed at the Venetian. Looks like y'all had a great time.

How fun to have a weekend alone!!! and resting! I need a vacation from our vacation! 😉

You look amazing…wish you had more pics to share of you!!!

good luck with the bed changeover…I tend to put it off. Hence why my kids were each almost 5 when they moved out of their crib. What?! They loved their 'special beds' I say no rush…whoever went off to college still sleeping in a crib?!?!?

Looks like a great break from it all!! I have to laugh, I thought the wedding photo was fake at first, there is something very strange about it…I thought it was one of those places where you get your photo by standing behind a board, with just your head showing above the bodies, to get a photo. Is it just me?! 🙂

That pool is crazy cool! What a nice getaway – sounds like you had a great time.

Sorry, I don't have any advice on a trundle, as we just went with the standard 'ol full bed with the option of a bunk for later. My oldest has been in his big boy bed for 3 nights now. I was so teary-eyed the first night, but he feels so special and is loving his big bed.

Yay for the weekend getaway! Well deserved when you are parents to two young ones! I was reading this post out loud to my hubby… he LOVES Vegas and wants to stay somewhere new when we go this summer. I've never been if you can believe it, so this post got me a smidge excited 🙂 The pool sealed the deal!

Sounds like you had a WONDERFUL weekend! Go Steve! That guy is a genius! You sure do have impeccable timing. Free tickets & Steve's wedding in 1 weekend??!?! I think that La Reve is the best "cirque"-ish show on the strip! Going to other shows after seeing La Reve just sets you up for disappointment.
