White After Labor Day

September 20, 2016 by Courtney 2 Comments

Yes, yes, yes! I get emails every year around this time asking if I think white after Labor Day is acceptable. I am the biggest fan of white all year round. In fact, I think an all white outfit looks most beautiful as it approaches the holidays. So I thought it would be fun to share some of the white that has caught my eye lately.

winter-white

First of all I am a big fan of mixing different tones of white. So cream, off-white, white. . . they work best when mixed together. Just like when you try to create an all white bedroom. The trick is incorporating different shades of white as well as texture. Same with an outfit. Some people feel better in white versus cream. That is up to you. But you could easily flip-flop this look if you prefer a true white near your face. The other thing that makes this look work is the texture of the top. I was immediately drawn to the cute ruffled color, too.

The neckline on this really is so sweet. It runs small so be sure to go up one size. I am wearing a medium in the top and a 25 in my favorite, inexpensive white jeans.  I own two pairs of these because I love them so much. I like keeping the shoe neutral with all white. These and these are similar to my block heels.

Other White Styles

I have never had wide legged white pants, but after seeing these I am thinking they would be gorgeous during the holidays. So pretty with a white sweater or a brilliant red one.

This top will take me through the holidays. I plan on pairing it with a white blazer, too. I also like the way it looks with the wide-legged jeans. Gives it a bit of a dressier feel.

I’ve had these jeans for years and years but these are quite similar. These have a bit of a nautical vibe. A pair of wide-legged jeans that fit well are always good to have in the wardrobe. With heels, the look is immediately more formal than just a pair of skinny jeans. And here is a little tip. Just be sure they fit well in the booty. If the legs are too wide for you (which is often the case), they can be tapered. I found these on sale years ago and they were way too wide. I took them to the tailor and for $15 they took the legs in so they weren’t crazy. Still wearing them a good 10 years later! Just keep that in mind!

More White Sweaters & Tops

Could someone please knock this off for me. This sweater is so gorgeous but way more than I will spend. I’ll let you know if I can hunt down a $50 version! This funky one has a ton of texture and is really cute in person.  This one also has that pretty texture and is much more classic.

White Coats

I also think white coats are beautiful in the Fall and Winter. I know some people steer away thinking they will get too dirty. I have had one for many years now and have always loved having it.

Here’s a fun way to incorporate white and neutrals. Lots of texture and the added pattern in the scarf gives it that cozy feel for the cooler months. I also love this scarf.  I noticed the cute sweater dress is called a body-con dress. That’s code for go one size up unless you want it to hug your body. Which is great, too. But if you want it to be a bit more of an everyday look, size up. The handbag is a great buy for under $50 and is reversible.

If I had an event I was going to, this top and white pants would be gorgeous. Anyone have something coming up? So unique and pretty.

So how did your Monday go yesterday? Did you face it with a positive attitude. I can’t wait to share a quote that my friend sent me about greeting Mondays with a smile. It’s a good one my friends. Off to get a lot done today. I am working on a couple of organizing posts which I will be sharing soon. Have a great day.

I am wearing white pants today – with navy top and nude booties and a nude belt. Love it after labor day! I work full time and try not to wish my weeks away. Every morning, I try to focus on what I have to be grateful for, and think about what I have to look forward to that day (or to make a plan to have something to look forward to). My favorite quote is on my bulletin board – Today I Choose Joy.

I love all white but have never been brave enough to try it- so you’ve convinced me! That sweater is in my cart now and with triple point days here I don’t need much else to convince me. So, so cute!
