Whew! It’s Thursday already. How did that happen? This week has been bananas for me. Between client work and children’s activities, it’s just very very busy. So while I wanted to show you the big boy room reveal, the photos are not complete. I decided to show you some keeping it real photos. The work-in-progress type! Do you remember what I am working with? It’s here if you need to check it out. And here is the inspiration board for the new space. We have made a little bit of headway. I have started to lighten things up with a new chair cover for my desk as well as some new pillows for the couch. The biggest edition has been the wall map. …………………….. chair cover ………………………. new pillows ………………………….. wall map …………………………desk fabric I also thought I would use this cute fabric under the glass on my desk in an effort to lighten it up. But it was much too vibrant when I put it in the space. It actually looked cute, but was much too distracting for my work space. So in an odd twist, I decided to turn it upside down and use it that way. I like the very subtle color. We’ll see after I actually get it in place. ……………….….. still in the box! So that’s it for now. Oh, and here is a box from Ikea that has remained unopened for a week or so now! All in good time. What about you? Has your week slipped away from you as well? It’s amazing how they do that. Hope you have been productive.

looking good so far! I'm working on redoing my little one's room and did a mood board and plan like you (great idea). Good way to tackle the job isn't it and helps to break it all down in to managble steps. Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Here is my boys room (in progress with link to plan) if you want to see 🙂

Is the wall map from Ikea?? I've almost bought that same map myself and keep talking myself out of it.
Courtney {a thoughtful place} says
Hi Tina! Yes. That is the Ikea map. I tried to hold off as well because it's not super inexpensive. I must say that I LOVE IT. It's such a great learning tool because it's a fantastic map and it just looks so great on the wall. I really love the colors.

Your bonus room is looking great, Courtney! Just read a post on that awesome Ikea light on Houzz the other day – can't wait to see it hanging! And I LOVE that map! My dad made a reversible frame for our large world and US maps. We have them hanging in the frame in our playroom and can flip as needed when using as a teaching tool. We even have transparent dots that we place over places we visit or where daddy travels on business to help the kids learn more about geography…My very most favorite addition to our playroom!

There is just something so grand as a wall map. So many hours of daydreaming, planning, story telling come from a map. Can't wait to see the final results.

Love the fabric Courtney! It looks similar to the Pottery Barn duvet cover that I created guestroom curtains with!

Oh my gosh I CANNOT wait to see the whole room. I know it's going to be amazing, and exactly the direction I'm hoping my basement will go. You know… if I ever get to it 🙂 I came across a HUGE old school world map (the kind that rolls up) in an antique store the other day for $60! I left without it because I wanted to measure first and they don't take returns. Came back and it was gone 🙁 I literally had to fight back tears.
