Fall is making it’s way here whether we are ready or not. I can’t believe our school year kicks off in just a few days. What? Today I am sharing some inexpensive and great accessories that can change the look of your outfit. And you’ll see how you can wear these accessories when going out or with a casual daytime outfit. I rounded up some favorites and most are under $50.
dress | heels | clutch | sunglasses
This is the dress I have in two colors and love. I bought a size medium so it wouldn’t cling to my body. I am 5’7″ for reference. But today it’s all about the accessories. I’m the girl that likes to keep things simple. I don’t like to go overboard when I accessorize. And when I carry such a cute bag, I like to let it be the statement piece.
I am also a sucker for a well lined bag. I love this one. Such a cute contrast with the stripes on the outside. And there is a zippered pocket and enough space for me to drop my wallet in this clutch without having to pull out the necessities. And the cuff. Well, I’m smitten. It’s so cute and it gives you a stacked look with just one piece. So easy.
t-shirt | clutch | jeans | pendant necklace | bralette | ring
It’s also really great with just jeans and a t. And at $25 it’s a fun addition to the wardrobe for Fall. I wear my initial pendant almost every day. Easy accessory that goes with everything.
And is this shot you can see how the cuff has cute white stripes. Such a fun piece. And I am waiting for my mom to give me permission to share her world-famous marinade recipe. Well, world-famous to all of us. I am trying to convince her it needs to make it’s way to the blog but for now it’s under wraps.
cognac clutch | sunglasses | scarf | clutch | black bag
When I was shopping for my new clutch I ran into two people I knew from our children’s school shopping for guests in the accessory section. We ended up all buying the bracelet from Nordstrom. Well priced handbags, scarves and jewelry really do make great gifts because you never have to worry about the fit. I bought one more for a dear friend’s birthday. And if she is reading this she now knows. And looking at the collage above I really want to tie that leopard scarf around the handle of the black bag. Carry that while wearing a comfy pair of jeans and a white t-shirt and you are looking very chic with very little effort.
These two beautiful bags caught my eye. I love the neutral gray color of the one on the left and the one on the right is straight up great. So so good with jeans. It is more than $50 but oh so cute. Both are new arrivals to Nordstrom.
dress | plaid shirt | shoes | handbag
Although unconventional, I do think a plaid shirt makes for one darn good accessory. Tying one around a dress give it a more casual vibe and adds some pattern. You probably have one hanging in your closet and it really is a wonderful way to give an outfit a fresh look.
And I wanted to round-up a few more baubles that caught me eye. I do think that a great piece of jewelry takes your outfit from hum drum to really chic. And you don’t have to go crazy.

One or two pieces is all it takes to make an outfit look pulled together. You can read more about my tips on accessorizing over here.
And here is this shot again as my Instagram didn’t link the outfit details correctly. Sorry about that. This is a favorite scarf of mine (on sale) and plan to pair it with a camel suede jacket for Fall. More on that to come.

What’s your favorite accessory? Would love to know. What’s on your agenda for the day? We are looking into a sofa for the house. We sort of need a place to sit. And we are also planning to hit up the Shake Shack down at the beach. Milkshakes seem like a good way to wrap up the summer, don’t you think?

Love all the things you’ve picked. I love simple accessories. I purchased the chevron necklace after seeing you wear it so often, and it is on constant repeat!! I love my initial necklace too. I haven’t purchased any rings in a long time, but am thinking I need to soon. And, I have been keeping my eye out for a great leopard print scarf. I’ll have to pick that one up too. Happy sofa shopping!!

Thank you, friend! I love simple, too. Oh that chevron one has been a good one. I never used to wear rings much but now I love them. Simple to add. Wish me luck with the sofa. Ryan was going to go with us but has too much work. I’m nervous to pick it out without him. Eeeeek. Here goes nothing. xo

I also love a well lined bag! Kate Spade does it so well, have you noticed?
Tell Mom she would enjoy that marinade so much more if she shared it with us 🙂 I’m a working Mom who has to come up with supper ideas EVERY day – we’re all in this together, right? Unless she plans to sell it, in which case I’ll buy it!
Courtney says
Yes! You are so right about Kate Spade. It’s details like that which makes things feel special. Ok! So I’ll let mom know she would be doing busy moms a service. That might win her over. And I’ll also let her know she has her first customer. LOL. Thanks for popping in and the sweet comment. Have a great day.

That striped clutch should be called The Nemo clutch! Doesn’t it remind you of him? Super cute!

You look very classy in that black dress, heels and clutch. I am probably one of the few so far that is ready for Fall. Love each and every one of these accessories Courtney. Great lining on that clutch and adore that cuff and leopard scarf. The abalone earrings, too. Yes, please ask your sweet mama is she’d be willing to share her yummy marinade recipe! My mouth is watering. Your day sounds fun! Sofa shopping and the shake shack! Great combination. Enjoy!

Courtney,
We took a little 4 day long weekend and went to several outlet malls to do some back to school shopping. I thoroughly enjoyed being with my family and doing something a little different. You have amazing style that is so natural and not forced. I love the clutch. I have recently purchased one and I love seeing how you styled it with the outfits. Keep up the amazing posts. I so look forward to reading your blog.
XO,
Jenn

just curious, have you done a post on watches? I’m on the lookout for one that could stand the test of time and be “just right.” love that scarf which is now in my shopping bag at Nordie’s! Your idea to tie it on a black purse would be classy, esp with jeans!
