A Classic Style | Stripes

Thank you for the kind comments yesterday. I really do think it’s important for us to take time out of our daily lives to spend quality time with one another. My mom always taught me that it’s important to surround yourself with people that make you want to be better. I am endlessly inspired by my friends and so thankful to have them. Not only do the continuously push me to be the best version of myself, but they accept me for who I am. Even if that means I like to talk about DIY and fashion much too often. To be honest, I spare them and talk about it with you all! So thankful for readers who can relate!

Today is about giving items in your closet new life. I have had these pieces for quite some time but have never worn them together. Isn’t it funny how when you find a new combination it feels like a whole new outfit? Also chatting about classic style and my favorite, stripes!

This scallop hem skirt is from last year and I am really happy I added it to my wardrobe. Scallop hem or not, I think a white skirt is a nice staple for the wardrobe. And I realize that much of the country (and most of my friends) are covered in snow but because we are experiencing really warm temps, I am busting out the skirt.

I had a reader ask me how to begin building a wardrobe. That is quite an overwhelming question to me but it’s a good one. I am planning to give it some serious thought. But basics like this are key. A striped long-sleeve, fitted tee is really versatile. It can be dressed up with a nice pair of jeans and a blazer. It can be worn with casual shorts or like this with a skirt. You can also add a printed scarf or necklace and it will change the entire look. And at 40% off this one is a good one. Very soft. I am wearing an extra small but think a small would have been better. Learn from my mistakes!

I have also had this bucket bag for quite some time. Highly recommend a cognac colored bag in any style you like. It really does go with almost everything. And I am still wearing my initial pendant and Alex and Ani Sister bangle pretty much daily.

This was from years ago and yet it is still on trend because it is so classic. Stripes and white are always a clean and timeless look. Same blazer and tee would work well with a white skirt for Spring.

Thought all of the striped options above were really cute. Do you already have more than you share of stripes in the wardrobe? Seems to be a theme in my closet for sure.

By the way. Have you tried one of the coloring books for adults yet? The kids and I had “coloring time” from 4-5:00 last night and it was amazing. I put on Pandora (Piano solo station) and it was like magic. I kept thinking, “Surely these kids will only last one more minute.” Nope. We all loved it. Just keep that in your back pocket if you are at your wit’s end and need some mellow time. Don’t worry the chaos and nighttime shuffle ensued after dinner. . . but boy was the pre-dinner hour lovelier than usual.
