You may remember that a while back I ordered a Ballard Inspired Bench from K-Mart. Yes, K-Mart. I instantly fell in love with the look and the price. And seeing that we have two small children who manage to leave their mark on quite a few things, it seemed the way to go. I loved the color, the tufted top, the ample storage, and the nail head trim. The only thing I didn’t love were the white feet. It’s taken me . . .oh, just a few months to whip out a can of spray paint, but I finally did it. I love the new look of the feet and it resembles the Ballard Amelia Bench even more now. Here is what I started with: And here is the bench with its new darker feet:
One of my readers had recommended this spray paint in Espresso. It is just the perfect shade.
A found a couple of fun green accent pieces for the room. The cute coasters are from Pier 1 Imports and the little green dish is from Michael’s dollar section. And I posted about my new green pillow here.
I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Other than my five minute spray paint project, we relaxed and spent time with family and friends. I would love to hear about any projects you checked off the list!
I am IN LOVE with your new bench and how about Im such a lozah that I didn't even know they had Espresso spray paint- um, awesome!!!! Great find sister! xoxo shel
Love it!! It looks fantastic. What a great find.
I love the way the bench turned out! It totally brought up the "value" of it, it totally looks expensive.
And love that green pillow!
Luvs!
What a nice touch! Loved it before and love it more now. The contrast is very nice!
I second what Leah said, the bench looks infinitely more expensive with that change in color, well done.
That looks amazing! The bench looks so different, just with a small change. It looks like a wood stain too- you would never know it was spray paint! Great project! 🙂
That makes such a huge difference!!! I'm shocked! Looks great.
Oh I love the little change you made! Big difference!
I love your blog and your decorating style. Everything looks wonderful! I especially like the coasters. I'll have to go check them out at Pier 1.

I have those coasters and I think I *need* that bench for our master bedroom.
Not sure if my last comment posted – I had a little computer glitch. Love the quick and easy update – that looks awesome! And I love the bench, I had found a similar one at Urban Outfitters but now I'm going to check Kmart to see what the price is there. And I love the green trellis pillow – I have a similar print on the curtains in my kitchen (and I still need to make another set).
Also got handy w/ some spray paint over the weekend – check it out if you get a chance:

Lovely as always! I was coveting that bench as well, but I wanted to see it in the store first (wasn't sure if it would be of a poor quality since it was from Kmart?). Now I totally wish I'd gone for it! And the update to the feet makes it look totally Ballard. Awesome job!
Such a small but amazing change! x
That bench looks fab…love how you styled it too!
wouldn't even know it was from k-mart!
Very chic and sophisticated looking now! Amazing what a little spray paint will do, huh? lol!
xoxo laurie
What a difference five lil' minutes make! I'm still amazed that chic little thing came from Kmart! Krazy (to go with Kmart, right?). Your living room looks just so comfy and beautiful!
Thanks for all of the sweet comments. I have to say that this piece as definitely been a surprise . . we really love it.
The darker color made such a big difference. Your den looks great. Love the new green accents!
Love the espresso feet! Isn't it amazing how just changing the feet or legs on a piece really changes the look. That bench is wonderful and a great find at KMart. I've liked it both ways. Have a great week, Courtney!
Definitely a great buy! It looks great!
Amazing what a transformation a little bit of paint can make! Love that bench! You scored a great deal!
What a difference a little spray paint makes! It's perfect. Love your new little green accents too!

The bench looks fabulous! I never even knew that there was espresso colored spray paint. Also, the green touches are adorable. I love all your little touches!!
What a difference it made!! Great little change. 🙂
Looks great Courtney! Loving all the new touches you've added to the room. Have to find those coasters!! I just refinished my vanity stool with the Espresso paint, and love how it turned out.
K-mart? I don't believe it. Although, I am always surprised yet wind up buying things that people point out to me at K-mart, Courtney. That is really a great looking ottoman and I love the neutrality of it. I found you through Crystal at Ordinary Days. : )
