I would be willing to bet that our own bedrooms often fall to the bottom of the list. We have been sporting some very frumpy king sized pillow shams on our bed for quite some time. They were the ones that came with my duvet and I have never had the right insert in them. I picked up king sized pillows from Target but they just didn’t do the trick. I finally ordered a refresh for our bed and it looks so much better. Sometimes you just need a small change to make a big impact.
A SIMPLE CHANGE

I should have taken a photo of the pillow situation before. This is so much better. And an easy swap. These pillow covers are 2 for $33 which is a fantastic price. I ordered the oatmeal color. These are my favorite inserts because of their weight and fullness.
Just remember to buy your insert 2″ larger than your pillow cover to get that full look. Otherwise, the covers will look like they are too big for the pillow. I ordered 26″ covers and 28″ inserts. The bolster was a lucky HomeGoods find. I was looking for something with a good amount of texture. This one is similar.
ADD IN TEXTURE

What I love most about these shams is the soft oatmeal color and the texture on them.

Our duvet and waffle blanket are now 20% off. Both incredibly soft. The chunky knit throw is so soft. If you have a king size bed, you can still order the full/queen. It is plenty big. I chose the artwork as a nod to the open land in Tennessee.
*Our bed is no longer sold, but this is quite similar. Or the Tilly bed which can be seen below which comes in a Zuma Charcoal.
THE SAME FORMULA

I actually opted for the three large shams and one bolster pillow because of this room that we designed in our beach place. Every time I go I love the look and decided to replicate it at home. The shams used here are also a phenomenal deal. I used the Cannoli Cream in this space. The larger pillow is from Target but no longer sold. This is very similar.
*This bed is the classic talc linen and I highly recommend it. I love that so much headboard shows even after you have placed the 26″ pillows. The neutral rug is also a great purchase.

If you are going for the monochromatic look (very relaxing in a bedroom) just be sure to use plenty of texture. Here you get that with the sham design, the bolster pillow and the chunky knit throw. The throw is my favorite and I use it on almost all of our beds.
OUR GUEST ROOM

My love for this throw runs deep. To see our guest room and sources, you can hop over here.
What duvet insert do you use on your bed? I have a Boll and Branch duvet insert but it’s very lumpy and I cannot get it smooth even following their washing instructions. I love their duvet covers.
