Well our whole family missed out on all the fun this weekend as we were all under the weather. Here’s hoping for a much healthier week ahead. I thought I would catch you up on some bonus room progress today. The room is large enough so that I can have a dedicated space for my office. I will often answer emails while the kiddos are playing nearby. I like that I can keep an eye on them and be amidst the chaos that is my life! ……………………………………. my work space Do you remember the board I showed you. We are slowly chipping away at this room!
And here is a before and after of my space. It is so much lighter and brighter and much more feminine now:
I wanted to lighten up the desk space with a chair cover as well as fabric underneath the glass. I ended up using the backside of a brightly colored floral fabric I had picked up a while back. The backside is perfect for this as it offers a nice muted color scheme that is calming and still adds some interest to the area. I also took down a metal board I had up and replaced it with a pretty mirror {kinda cool that I can watch TV in the mirror if something good is on as it is on the opposite wall!} ………………………………………… new space
I love working up in this space because it is flooded with natural light. It’s a nice spot to write my blog or work on design boards for clients. The desk has file drawers which is key for keeping everything organized. I normally work from my kitchen table in the morning while the kiddos are at school and then hop up to this space when they are playing. ………………………………………….. the details

Looks fantastic! Love your calling cards!
Beautiful space Courtney! I too always had an area in our bonus room when our girls were younger. I loved being able to get done what I needed to, yet at the same time be able to see what they were up to.
Using the backside of the fabric is genius. Everything looks beautiful.
Love how it's all coming together, Courtney! The fabric idea is a perfect option for those of us who like to change things up once in awhile! 🙂
I really love the fabric you chose to go on your desk – it totally lightened up everything – it really makes it look like a new desk! Love the blues and colors you chose – it's beautiful!
It looks so great Courtney! I can't get over how putting fabric under the glass top helped rightened things up so much. I'd love to work from a space like that. I currently use my couch, ha!
That desk looks like a great size and has lots of storage. I am in the middle of painting my hallway, but didn't finish 🙁
I love that space! I also love that you can watch some tv in the mirror if it's interesting without having to be seated in front of the tv with a computer in your lap.
What a pretty space! Very feminine. I was wondering what the desktop was! 🙂 You are so smart to use the fabric that way. Hope you are all feeling better!
Love your desk area! So lovely and cozy!!!
Ahh you have inspired me! Work is so much better with a clean, functional space. And that space is like a dream.
Love the colors, Courtney.
Have a great day.
It's perfect- so you 🙂 Love the pattern under the glass on the desk!
Love those colors! What a beautiful space to work from.
Hope your family's feeling better.
Love how the fabric totally lightens up the desk. Gorgeous! It really looks so much lighter and fresher!
Hope you guys are feeling better today…being sick all weekend is not fun!
so pretty! would love to just hang out there 😉
Such a pretty space! I love the fabric under the glass…genius idea! And I can just picture you sitting in the chair with your long, skinny legs tucked under you!!!
Great colors. I love the striped wall and the fabric on/ under the desk top.
Oh I love how light and bright it is. Gorgeous!
It looks great! I absolutely love the desk! It's what I'm looking for. Well, I guess I shouldn't say looking for because that implies I'm actually, you know, out looking for it. I've just been thinking about it. HA!
Aw I love seeing that, it's so pretty Courtney. But do you really blog from there? I totally just sit on the couch… 😉
my couch! Where my butt gets imprinted by the end of the night, lol! I wish I had an office space, but not in the cards right now in my condo
I love how you tweaked the desk to make it lighter and more airy.
Very nice!

Looks beautiful Courtney!! The fabric is great and I love the stripes on the walls!!
It is looking great Courtney! So much more "you", feminine and fresh. Just lovely! I love the wire basket holding the magazines.
So pretty, Courtney! Light, fresh and feminine. Love the aqua lamp and that great clock. I just got a new desk and have been trying to get a nice spot for me set up.
it's lovely and your solution for lightening up the desk by placing a beautiful floral fabric under glass is brilliant. My work space looks like this http://lisagouletdesign.blogspot.com/2010/04/desk-participation.html
Your office is looking great! The lamp is really perfect. And of course, being the twins that we are, I have the same mirror in my office:) I need to get the hard copy House of Fifty!
Awww, wow. I want to come and work in your space with you. It's so pretty and light and airy! I love the colors and your lamp and the glass desk top with the fabric. It all works together so nicely! And that mirror… I am oozing with jealousy! <3
