Good morning. I’ve spent most of mine trouble shooting IT issues. If there is one thing I am certain of, it’s that I wish I had my husband’s tech skills. He has saved me more times than I can count. Grateful for his patience. I was planning to launch the rest of my gift guides but those will now go up tomorrow. But I did want to share a few of our tried and true Christmas decor items in case you are still wanting to refresh or add to your collection. I am not one for storing a ton of things or clutter so we try to stick to holiday decor that makes a big impact.
FAVORITE CHRISTMAS DECOR
This garland remains a favorite of mine. Like most faux garland, you need to work with it and you can play with the branches at the base. You will be surprised how much you can bend them and make them look more full. I just can’t get over the sale price right now. These are always out of stock so if you have been looking, now is a good time. The candle sticks belonged to my parents so we love having them on our table.
FAVORITE FLOCKED TREE
This flocked tree has been wonderful. It’s been outside on our porch for years and this year we will decorate it with all things cookies and popcorn. It’s just so good. And I promise it’s not a messy one.
Here is a close up of the branches and lights. I will hold onto this one as long as I can (have had it over 5 years now).
BIT OF SPARKLE
Our twinkle trees were a fun purchase last season. I kept them up through January. I took the base off of one and placed it in a block of green floral oasis so it would fit in a basket. These give off a beautiful warm glow and are also available in white. Our rug is currently on sale and can be found here.
Pottery Barn also carries similar trees which are beautiful as well.
MERCURY GLASS GARLAND
This mercury glass garland was a favorite purchase of mine. In fact I liked it so much I bought two. One is here on our garland and the other I hung on our stairs. This color is called Antique Silver and it’s on sale for a great price.
With the second mercury garland one I ordered, I cut it down so I could hang it on our stairs. There was enough for two banisters plus a few ornaments left over which I hung on our tree. The garlands are a mix of this Norfolk favorite and this one from McGee and Co.
I’ve mentioned this already, but these remote switches for our garlands and trees have been a life saver. We absolutely love them and appreciate that they aren’t connected to our phones. Easy for the kids to turn things on and off with a tap of a button. We attached them to the wall with this temporary putty but they can be permanently attached if it’s a light you have on year round.
VELVET RIBBON
When I picked out these sconces (now 20% off) I absolutely was thinking about the holidays. My brain just works that way. I love them all dressed up for Christmas. The greenery is just pieces that literally fell off a wreath I have. The velvet ribbon from Amazon is a decorating staple around here.
Tying ribbon on something you already have is such an easy way to make a big impact.
CHIFFON RIBBON
I also really love this chiffon ribbon. I used it in the colors natural and brown on our tree. Just be careful as the ends of it are fragile. You can see a string of it was caught on a branch. To avoid that, tie the ribbon first and then place it over a branch. It will stay put and save you from my mistake. My daughter and I also like to wear this ribbon when we pull our hair back. If you are local, I bought many of my mercury glass ornaments from Patina Home and Garden this year.
*Our tree is a Home Accents Jackson Noble Fir from Home Depot (9ft). This is our third year with it and we love it.
Hope these little touches are helpful if you are looking for a bit of inspiration. We are still slowly decorating and plan to do the family tree this weekend. Unwrapping the ornaments each year might just be my favorite holiday tradition.
And if you are looking for a sweet treat to make this week, this is a holiday favorite (thanks to my mom).

I just ordered the twinkle trees. I can’t wait for them to arrive. I am thinking of keeping them on the base, in a basket, but topping off with. Christmas blanket. We shall see if it works! Thank you for the basket idea!!

Oh I love that idea. We really do love them and I appreciate keeping them up all though January – brightens the winter months.
