Closet Organization | How to Hang Handbags

July 18, 2013 by Courtney 19 Comments

How is it Thursday already? This week is flying by. I wanted to share a closet organization tip that I implemented recently. I actually learned a great trick for hanging handbags from Lara Spencer on GMA. Do any of you watch? I remember my mom watching GMA while growing up and now I try to tune in whenever I can. I happen to love Lara Spencer and her ability to turn trash into treasure. They gave a tip about using shower hooks the other day and it had my name written all over it. Love. Take a look.   purses So simple. These little babies are sold everywhere. I snagged some from Target and they work great. I am using them in my closet as well as in my daughter’s. You can hang them whichever way fits best on the rod. I will admit it took some serious arm power to muscle these babies over my rod. Let’s just say they are not coming off anytime soon. But they slide back and forth very easily in case I need to shift them. While I keep some of my handbags in our mini mudroom, it’s nice to have some out of the way as well.   showerhook   Because we have the wire shelves in my daughter’s closet, I was able to hang the small end of the shower hook over her rod which allows for her little hands to hang her bags much more easily. This solved a huge pet peeve on mine. We were hanging her bags on the back of her door. Sub-optimal to say the least. Now it’s super easy for her to keep track of them and they are not falling off of her door handle. rileybags   … showerbags   After we created a desk space for our daughter, many of you emailed me asking about where her clothes are kept. So I thought I would show you this full shot. This is what you see if you slide the doors to the left. IMG_2155   When you slide the doors to the right, her clothes disappear and she is able to use her work space. She is still loving it and I get crazy giddy when I see her little desk light on in the evening while she is working away on something. I had already replaced one set as they kept getting shoved here and there. IMG_2161 If you are new to my blog, you may have missed when I posted about planning her outfits for the school week. Because it’s summer, we are not doing that but come fall we will be back to our old routine. Saved our sanity {ok, mine!”} big time. outfits for the week {a thoughtful place} planning outfits for the week during the school year   baghooks So thank you GMA. So happy I saw Lara Spencer talking about these shower hooks. I still have some leftover so you know I am on the prowl for more places to hang them. Do you hang your handbags? Do you have other solutions to share with my readers. Be back tomorrow with a special tribute on a special day. cheers to getting organized for more closet organization tips you can click on the photos below IMG_0634IMG_0675linen4IMG_0381 Top 10 Organizing tips can be found below: top10tips

I used shower hooks in my daughter's bathroom to hang two baskets to hold stuff. They were threaded through the cloth woven baskets and onto the shower rod

I use this same trick in my laundry room on a tension rod between the shelf and wall. And also pack them with me on a trip…they come in handy on vacation too. You can hang them on the shower rod for extra towel hooks or in the closets. handy little things they are!

CUTE! I use shower hooks for my jewelry (thank you, Pinterest), but now I'll have to try them for handbags too! I love the idea of planning out kids' outfits for the school week! I have boys (ages 4 & 2), so it hasn't been a huge deal yet, but with as finicky as my oldest is, I can see it becoming an issue in the future! 😉 Hope you're having a great week, Miss Courtney!

I use a towel rod and the same shower hooks for my necklaces. It's such a great way to let them hang and not get tangled somewhere and it looks really pretty too hanging near my vanity. 🙂

SUCH a good trick! I used them in my front hall organization makeover. We hang sports equipment (tennis racquets, bike helmets, etc.), coolers and even an umbrella on shower curtain hooks. Works like a charm! I posted about it here if you'd like to see: http://www.mayricherfullerbe.com/2013/05/operation-reorganization-front-hall_22.html

That is such a clever idea, I love it!! I only wish I had more rod space for bags……my husband and I are sharing a very small walk in closet and muse daily about building a new closet off our bedroom. I'll have to remember this trick if we ever do that!

Threshold at Target is really great! I'm looking at closet organizing options and this may be worth considering and the price is right:) The shelving is nice but that requires removing the existing racks.
