DIY Monogrammed Tote: Perfect Party Favor

February 24, 2014 by Courtney 23 Comments

I’m excited to be sharing a really easy and fun idea for a party favor. And although we plan to use these sweet monogrammed totes as favors, you could really use them for anything. My daughter loves the idea of handing these to her little girlfriends as they leave her birthday party. It’s not for a couple of months, but my sweet girl is a planner. pinkbag Who can pass up a gold glittery monogrammed tote?! With just a piece of tissue tucked in, the bag becomes an instant party favor. You could of course fill them with something as well. The possibilities are endless. We will be tucking a little something inside but she wants that to be a surprise! monogramtotebag I am so fortunate to be a part of the 12 Months of Martha Program this year and used some of my favorite goodies. To complete this project I used the following

  • small white canvas bags {set of 5} from Michaels
  • Martha Stewart Glitter and Glitter Glue
  • Martha Stewart Craft Paint
  • Martha Stewart Decorative Flowers
  • Martha Stewart Glitter Tray
  • Martha Stewart Stencils

IMG_7090 Step 1: Tape off a band around the bottom of each tote bag. IMG_7094 Step 2: Use craft paint to paint a band all the way around the tote. Don’t forget the sides and very bottom. The paint goes on these little canvas totes beautifully and quickly. Let dry for one hour and peel off the tape. IMG_7097   threebags Step 3: Place the stencil in the middle of the bag and apply glitter glue. applystencil Step 4: Sprinkle beautiful gold glitter on top! IMG_7114 Step 5: Lift the stencil away and shake off any excess onto the glitter tray. Don’t worry. The glue and glitter wipe cleanly from the stencil. IMG_7116 Step 6: Adhere flower to the tote. They come with an adhesive backing and stick very well. You could always use hot glue if you were at all concerned. IMG_7140 IMG_7143 Step 7: Either fill with goodies or just cute tissue and your personalized party favor is ready to go! monogramtote IMG_7214 When it came time to snap some photos, my little model was all in. She was directing me on which shots to take. This sweet girl makes me smile non-stop. Here she is modeling The R bag. pinkhandbag4 pinkhandbaggrass handbagr She insisted on modeling The A bag as well! I think her sweet friends will enjoy these just as much as she does theabag2 theAbag rileyhandbag1 With the exception of an hour dry time for the paint, these really only took ten minutes to create and now the girls each have something personalized and special to take home with them. 12MonthsofMarthaButton A big hank you to the editors of Martha Stewart Living for sponsoring this post as part of the #12MonthsofMartha program! I received product in exchange for this project; however, all opinions and ideas are my own. Always.

How adorable, and ridiculously easy to make! I think this is actually something I'll have to do. I remember when I was a kid we would always get a bag with candy with us from birthday parties. I like this idea tough – a cute bag with flowers. Maybe adding some small toy or something for the hair, or anything that would excite a kid would be a good idea for your daughters birthday party 🙂

She is seriously the most precious!!!!! That dress is super cute. And the bags are, too! I love the stripe at the bottom and the pretty flower. I could use a few of those flowers around my house to get us ready for spring! Pretty pretty : )

Hey these are adorable! I am wondering how and what supplies you used to make your corner panel/curtain rods in your living room out of the plumbing materials? do you have a post about this somewhere?
