Five Ways to Decorate With Wreaths

November 19, 2013 by Courtney 27 Comments

While the holidays are upon us, I already have my sights set on decorating for Christmas. The one thing that I can not get enough of, is the wreath. I think they are the most welcoming aspect of Christmas décor. And you really can hang them anywhere. Today I wanted to share five places wreaths really shine.

1: CREATE A GRAND STAIRCASE

I just love the idea of having simple wreaths guide the way up the stairs. I think it’s classic and pretty and a change from the more expected garland {also beautiful!}.

2: ADORN A PIECE OF FURNITURE

Most pieces of furniture have either knobs are hardware that are begging for wreaths! Here I simply hung the wreath on one of the drawer knobs. If you do not have a natural place to hang a wreath, you can always use a 3M hook.

3: TUCK THEM IN A BOOKCASE

Chances are strong you have a bookcase or built in that could use a little Christmas charm. I love this idea. And I love how simply they are placed. Nothing even on the wreaths and they look so beautiful.

4: HANG THEM ON A MIRROR

I think my all time favorite is hanging a wreath on a mirror. There is something so classic and beautiful about it. My two tricks are draping the bow over the back and attaching it behind or using a removable sticky hook. Both work well an create such a classic charm for the holidays.

5: BRING THEM INTO THE KITCHEN

The green wreaths stand out on these bright white cabinets. Consider hanging them on your glass front cabinets or one on either side of  your stove. It sure makes cooking in the kitchen that much more festive. These were hung over the cabinet and simply taped to the back of the door. More can be seen in the Christmas House Tour. Are you drawn to the wreath as well? I can’t get enough of them. There are so many more beautiful examples on Pinterest and to follow along you can find me here. And on another note, our internet has been horrible the last two days and super unpredictable so if you don’t hear from me at the normal posting times, all is well . . . but my internet is killing me! Fingers crossed.

I love the wreath in front of the mirror look or even in front of windows. I can't wait till December 1st so I can decorate!

I just started reading your blog a few months ago and I really enjoy your posts! Do you have any suggestions on where I can find wreaths similiar to the ones posted above? I love the idea of hanging one on the mirror; I have the perfect mirror in my dining room over my buffet. Thank you in advance!

Hi Rachel! I always find great boxwoods at Target. The small fresh ones are great from Trader Joes. That is what I hang on my kitchen cabinets.

LOVE the staircase idea! As soon as I read this post I jumped over to Hobby Lobby and got 3 wreaths for 50% off and tied those bad boys up. I have to say, I read your blog often but sometimes I feel intimidated that I can't decorate so I just don't. But I'm so glad I read & listened this time – they are a great addition to our holiday decor 🙂 Thanks!

I actually made that during an DIY episode we filmed for She Knows. I found a large piece of art from HomeGoods (was only looking at the frame) and sprayed the glass with chalkboard paint. Super easy. Just used regular chalk on it.

      Hope that helps.
