It’s been a just a week since I announced the winner of the Grand Giveaway HomeGoods Bedroom Makeover but boy has it been a crazy week! I mean crazy! Behind the scenes there is a ton going on. The amazing homeowners, Jenny and Dave, have jumped in with both feet and already have the room painted. What color? You’ll have to wait and find out. Their daughter suggested purple, but we went another direction! Hopefully they are resting up before the major installation. I have never designed and shopped so much in one week. I think it might be best to just keep a mattress in the back room of HomeGoods. Let’s just say I am putting a ton of miles on my car to and from that wonderful store. I wanted to share the overall game plan for the space. There are three main aspects that I am keeping in mind for Jenny and Dave’s space. This awesome basket was actually the jumping off point for the color scheme of the design. Not only are we incorporating bold color, but texture as well. I think a room reads so much more pulled together and interesting when there is a strong use of texture. If you have read my blog for a while, you know I like to mix finishes. I welcome any and all as long as the live well together. You’ll see a large variety of finishes as well as modern mixed with traditional. I just love the bamboo tray. It has so much character and texture. The pretty mercury glass tray was found in the bathroom department at HomeGoods. Don’t forget to shop there. Great prices and pieces in really pretty finishes. Pattern, my friends! I am not shying away from it in this bedroom makeover. While the room will be calming and clean, the mix of bold patterns will give it interest and life. Look for patterns in textiles, accessories, and furniture. It can really be found on anything these days so don’t be afraid to go bold. It really does elevate a space. I hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of the plan and where we are headed with this new room. I will be back next Wednesday to give you an actually sneak peek of the space. I can’t wait!
