Happy Labor Day! I hope you’re able to relax at least a little bit today. We all slept in (rare in this house) and will take on a mix of getting things done and doing nothing. Fighting off a cold over here so moving a bit slowly. But here is a quick look at what we have been up to with our Monday Morning Wrap-Up.
We kicked off the long weekend with a BBQ. But don’t let those yummy potatoes fool you. We didn’t cook them all the way and learned our lesson about trying to grill potatoes. Oops. Any tips on that would be appreciated. They looked done. Ha.
Summer doesn’t have to be over, does it? My in-laws are still in town and we spent some time visiting family and swimming the day away. These two may fight like crazy from time to time but boy do they have fun together. They were attached at the hip in the pool and loved every second of it.
In home style news, I let you know that we ordered this rug and so I wanted to give you a peek of it in our home. We hadn’t lifted the rug on top of it yet. That is one heavy sofa from Old Bones Co. (more about that here) so I had to wait for my hubby to show up. But LOVE the rug. It has a couple of wrinkles from being rolled up but they should relax soon. Great neutral rug.
If you follow college football this was a heck of a game. Two over time periods and all. In the end Texas pulled out a win. Congrats to all of the Texas fans. I may or may not have lost my voice screaming throughout the four-hour game. Fun to have football season back. Although check back with me in December when it’s been on non-stop over here!
I am getting ready to head out for the Michaels Makers Summit so I will be sharing some of my go-to items that I always pack. Can’t wait to have a few days to be creative and see some dear friends who I have met through this blogging world. Just need to kick this cold to the curb.
And last but certainly not least, if you happen to be on Instagram, you may have seen this unbelievable outdoor space created by Monica Hibbs. Every inch of her home is beyond gorgeous. This is no exception and I keep staring at it wishing I could magically appear sitting on that outdoor daybed sipping lemonade. Go check out Monica’s full post here. You will be blown away.
Off to force myself to relax. Anybody else have a hard time shutting it off and putting your to-do list away? Luckily I have my children and husband to lead the way. They are REALLY good at enjoying downtime. Much to be said for that.
See you back here tomorrow.

Hey girl! Get some Emergen-C. Works like a charm. Elie started to get a cold (welcome back to teaching and coaching) and she drank it a couple times a day and the cold disappeared! I’d take some with you too. My doc recommends vitamin D and zinc too.

Hi Courtney. Potatoes do look delicious, so disappointing when not quite done. I parboil mine first and toss in olive oil, salt and pepper before grilling in a foil pan. Always enjoy your house updates. Have a great week.

If you want to do the potatoes completely in the grill just keep in mind that they will take at least as long as they do in a relationship oven. Grilling doesn’t make it quicker!

yup, parboil those potatoes first. or, start them in the oven, and finish them on the grill 🙂

What size rug did you end up getting? I don’t know what size to get for our bedroom. What’s the rule of thumb for that? Our bed is a King size–thanks!

Yay!!! I love hearing from readers. Congrats on such a great game. I think I have gray hair from watching it. Thanks for letting me know you connect with the posts. Hope you had a great long weekend. xo

Your home looks beautiful! I’ve been a reader for a while and it’s nice to see your new space unfold. I was wondering if you could share more details on repainting your kitchen and built-ins. How did you choose what type of paint to use (vs lacquer… or is that the same?), did you just use a painter or some other specialty company? I’d love to do (hire out) something similar but the process is intimidating!
