Good morning. The sun is shining and I am looking forward to getting my steps in outside today. Did you have a nice weekend? We spent time with friends which was wonderful but also did some serious decluttering around the house. Is anyone else really craving a less is more feel. Should we dive into that some more? Let me know your thoughts. Here is a quick recap of life lately with the Monday Morning Wrap Up.
CREATIVE COSMETIC CHANGES
![bathroom remodel](https://athoughtfulplaceblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/bathroom-remodel_3-800x1422.jpg)
I was thinking about some of the projects we’ve done in this home. This ranks up there as one of my favorites despite it being a very basic makeover. In a perfect world, budget would be no issue and I could justify ripping out a bathroom. But in this case, we just didn’t feel it was a wise place to spend money. It’s actually a very large bathroom which means the cost would have been quite high. Instead we opted for a few simple changes. Paint is magic and I hope this encourages you to get creative with updates. Not everything needs a complete overhaul. I share all of the details plus before photos in this post.
By the way, these towers were considered dated one point. I think they are making a comeback (even in kitchens) but whether they are on trend or not . . . they are genius. I love the storage they offer. Truly one of my favorite parts of the bathroom. All of the doors were glass so we chose to close up the bottom portion to hide all of our essentials.
STILL EMPTY
![workout space](https://athoughtfulplaceblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/basementworkout-800x1422.jpg)
The basement is still empty! I am so close to ordering sofas but don’t want to rush into it. In the meantime it sure is wonderful to have a dedicated spot for a workout. These days I love going to the gym but if I am short on time, this is ideal. But gosh we are so anxious to be able to use this space to host friends so I better get things in motion. This rug is incredibly soft and can be found here (navy/sand). I love the warm colors.
POKE BOWL FOR THE WIN
![ahi bowls](https://athoughtfulplaceblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/ahi-bowls-800x892.jpg)
I will forever be a poke bowl girl. Actually, our entire family loves them so it works out well. A great source of protein. We get our ahi from the Farmer’s Market and then add arugula, rice, edamame, green onions, cucumber, sesame seeds and avocado (we were out this time). We also drizzle ponzu sauce on top and serve with ginger and sriracha. We serve these once a week.
PROTEIN BOWL
![yogurt](https://athoughtfulplaceblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/yogurt-bowl-800x902.jpg)
While it doesn’t look great this is another go-to snack of mine. It’s Greek yogurt with a scoop of vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, cinnamon and frozen blueberries. So good! The frozen blueberries are key. Plus this is more than 30 grams of protein.
*The shrimp recipe is coming, I promise. I just need to carve out time to photograph the step by step.
DATE NIGHT

Love my one on one time with Ryan. This week we snuck in a date night at Perry’s. A local favorite. It’s always time well spent and a wonderful way to stay connected without the distractions.
CARE PACKAGE SENT OFF
![valentines care package](https://athoughtfulplaceblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/valentinecarepackage-800x1121.jpg)
Hopefully this arrives at my daughter’s dorm room today. I sent her this sports bra and leggings along with these cute ruffle socks. My husband and I always write notes to our children on Valentine’s Day (been doing that on white hearts since they were tiny) so we made sure those were included. While it’s so hard having her gone, it really is fun to work on these little surprises.
ADORABLE

This top arrived and I LOVE IT! Can’t wait to show you. It’s even better in person. If you missed Saturday Shopping you can get caught up here.

I also ordered these jeans and love them. They are an adorable cut. Really wide leg but fit so well at the waist (and Risen jeans always have stretch at the tummy which I appreciate). They are true to size. I am 5’7″ and that is exactly where they fall on me (shown above).
What do you have on the agenda on this Monday? Always appreciate you stopping in. I hope it’s a great start to the week.
YES, less is more! My MIL is famous for visiting with a bag of ‘stuff”. Typically it is stuff we do not use. In the past I would put it in a cupboard. Now I just toss. But I feel about the money being spent. We tried to tell her it not necessary but she still does it.
Hi Court! Great post, as always. I would welcome less is more posts. I’ve been purging excess and downsizing for the last couple of years. Feels freeing.
Yes…definitely would like to read a “less is more” post if you have one ready to publish!
What brand of vanilla protein powder do you use?
Please share purging posts
I love your blog! It’s consistently uplifting and genuine. Can’t wait to read about your less is more articles! We world school and have lived out of 5 black hole duffles the past 5 years. (Family of 7) God bless! 😊
Hi Courtney! I’d love a post on how you decided on the molding design in your basement. There are so many possibilities on the size and number of molding boxes. Your design looks great!
