Monday Morning Wrap Up

August 25, 2025 by Courtney 4 Comments

Good morning. Wow. So much to catch up on. I stepped away for a bit so that I could be all in with Riley’s last week home and sending her off to school. We were gone for almost a week and have so much to share. Safe to say I am already missing my girl but know she has the most incredible adventures in front of her. Let’s do a deep dive with the Monday Morning Wrap Up.

WEEKEND HAPPENINGS

farmers market

The Farmers’s Market is my happy place. We keep saying that we want to grow our own food one day but until then, I am so grateful for the farmers and all of their hard work. I am in awe every time.

Do you have a garden? We did grow our own herbs and greens for a while and then fell away from it. I think it’s time we revisit that. There is nothing better than home grown produce.

THE NEXT CHAPTER

notre dame

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen the big news. We just got back from the University of Notre Dame after being gone for five days. What a whirlwind. Our sweet girl decided to change course and transfer. She loved her year at Ole Miss and the decision was a difficult one. Ultimately, she followed her heart and we could not be more proud. Her maturity blows me away and I am so proud of the young woman she is.

Because Notre Dame is my alma mater, moving her in felt surreal. It takes such bravery to start over and I so admire her willingness to pivot. My mama heart is a bit tender but I know she is exactly where she is supposed to be.

A WARM HUG

It’s hard to put into words, but this campus feels like a warm hug. We were blown away by the orientation and feel very comfortable entrusting our girl to ND. To be completely transparent, I think I am still processing the entire week. Seeing your child walk into all new situations once again is emotionally draining. Everyone has been so welcoming and she is already making fast friends so I am waking up with such gratitude this morning. If your child has ever made a major pivot, you know the range of emotions. I have the pit in my stomach like I have every first day of school since she was in Kindergarten. Here’s to a successful and wonderful Sophomore year.

We were able to meet up with dear friends I graduated with. They too have a sophomore daughter so it was incredible to kick off the year with them. Good things await.

*I’ll share her room soon!

BEAUTIFUL VISITOR

One of the afternoons we grabbed lunch outside (the weather was incredible all week) and this beautiful butterfly visited us. Couldn’t help but snap a picture.

A GREAT RUG

On a decor note, we bought this rug for Riley and it’s so pretty. Worth checking your local HomeGoods as they seem to keep getting more of these. The colors are so great. Highly recommend.

FIVE STAR REVIEWS

And these have passed the long walk through campus test. She loves them. A five star sneaker for sure. We ordered them here but you can find a nice selection here as well.

TRAVEL OUTFITS

We actually made two round trips to ND over the course of last week. Once to move her in and then we went back a couple of days later for orientation. We drove in yesterday afternoon just in time to make it to our son’s hockey meeting. The juggle is real. But the first trip I wore these $12 sweatpants (beyond comfy). They are incredibly soft and lightweight. Great travel outfit.

camo pants

For the second trip I wore these camo pants there and back and also loved. They are lightweight, not tight around the waist and comfy. It’s safe to say that I have worn these more than any other pants lately. The best part is that they are $16 (and much cuter in person than on the website).

Looking forward to getting back into my routine with work and all the things. So looking forward to watching our son play hockey this year (his last season as a senior) and cheering on the Irish in football. And really looking forward to home cooked meals this week.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. And I hope that your children, no matter the age, have had a great start to the school year.

Hi Courtney. Congrats and good luck to your daughter at ND! Holds a special place for me too because my husband is an alum and when we first married we lived 10 minutes away. We spent so much time walking the campus, stopping at the grotto, going to the games. If your daughter needs a new hair salon I miss my friends at R&J, owners Royal and Georgia! The are the best!

Such an exciting start to the school year for all of you! Change can be hard and scary, but also exciting. I wish her the best at her new school. And enjoy the senior year ride for your son!
