Monday Morning Wrap Up

August 17, 2026 by Courtney Leave a Comment

Good morning. What is on your agenda this morning? We are knocking out some more packing for Miss Riley. We will be headed back to Notre Dame soon and my heart goes out to everyone in Indiana dealing with such catastrophic flooding. Heart breaking to see the damage and loss. In far less important news, we are wrapping up life lately and sharing a home project that has been a long time coming.

LOVING THIS

This book is so good! I keep wanting to stop what I am doing and just read. I know so many of you raved about it. Definitely loving it so far.

HARPETH HOTEL

Joined friends for a fun evening at The Harpeth Hotel. If you are every visiting, it’s a great hotel option right in downtown Franklin. You can walk to everything. It has a welcoming vibe and live music most evenings.

THANKFUL FOR THIS GUY

hanging drapes

Ryan spent much of the weekend on the ladder hanging our drapery panels. So grateful for how handy he is. The pretty moldings made it a bit tricky but he made it work beautifully. We have been wanting to do this for so long. It’s only taken us 5 years.

drapery clips

The best part is that these panels comes with the rings and the adjustable hooks. These hooks allow you some leeway with where they hit the floor.

I needed to order the 120″ panels for this room but they puddled on the floor. I used this hem tape to shorten them by 3″. It’s fantastic. It sticks on and is a very quick solution if you don’t want to sew them. My tip is to hang the drapes and pin where you want them. Then take them down by removing the clip from the ring. After hemming them, it’s very easy to just hook them back onto the rings.

I will be taking the same hem tape to Riley’s college move in in case her bed skirt needs to be shortened. So easy!

Everything we used to hang these drapes (including the glide tape) can be found here.

drapes

I have two 40″ panels combined for each side (because I ordered the 120″ they didn’t have the wider panels). I used the hem tape to just stick the two panels together. I am so pleased with how these turned out. I wish you could see them in person. It added so much warmth and softness. We need to do the other wall this week. We also plan to take the blinds down because these are blackout panels. We only close the blinds for about an hour or two in the afternoon so now we can just close the drapes (use this glide tape so they move smoothly).

*My color is natural. These drapes are a major price performer and look custom. Highly recommend.

THE ROD

We like this rod. But we used an adjustable bracket in the middle (due to the molding) and Ryan says he actually prefers those brackets to the ones that came with the rod. You may want to consider adding these to your order. They are lower in profile and sturdier.

These faux hydrangeas are a 10/10 in my book. I love the variation in colors and they look good with so many styles. They are prettier in person than this captures . . . a bit more pale. Does anyone else have issues with their iPhone camera automatically changing colors on photos. It drives me nuts. I think I need to break out my old Canon again.

I like this vase so much I have two in the house. There is also one in our Florida place. Great texture and a really nice shape.

RAINBOW CAKE

They may be adults now, but I am still making this rainbow cake to kick off a new school year. It’s been a tradition since Riley started kindergarten. Do you have any long standing traditions for the onset of a new school year?

SENDING WITH MY GIRL

I am also making a batch of these to send with my girl. They are gluten/dairy free and FANTASTIC. Even Ryan says they are the best brownies he has ever had. Give them a try and let me know!

SATURDAY SHOPPING

If you missed this week’s Saturday Shopping you can catch it all here. An entire outfit for $20, a 30% off Anthro sale, and a great Amazon look for less. Plus a coffee table I am eyeing.

And with that I am off to knock out my walk and then get organized. Wishing you a really great start to your week. Thank you for being here.
