We had the opportunity to fly up to San Francisco last weekend for a friend’s wedding in Napa. I will be wrapping up the Napa portion of the trip very soon. But because my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, we decided to spend one night in San Francisco. While our time there was short, it was a fantastic way to spend a few hours. Here’s a little wrap-up of our time there including all the fun places we ate.
pink bag | similar bag | hubby’s favorite shorts
We both had a list a mile long to accomplish before getting away so once our plan touched down we were ready to relax. We don’t make a ton of plans when we travel. We like to wander around the city and Ryan had a bunch of places in mind to stop along the way for great food and drinks. He is sort of my tour guide when we are on vacation and I love that.
dress | jean jacket | tote bag | similar sandals | sunglasses | necklace
You may be tired of this outfit by now, but I will tell you that this $40 dress has been one of my greatest buys ever. It is so comfy to travel in and wears well with a jean jacket or denim shirt.
You’ll see the jacket keeps popping on and off because the weather in San Francisco is like that. Cool one minute and warm the next. But we really did have the most gorgeous weather for the entire weekend. I always love stopping by this little flower shop. They are set up just outside of Macy’s. We definitely hit up some shopping while we were there. I needed a clutch for the wedding as I had forgotten mine. I treated myself to this one (on sale).
After flying and shopping we were both hungry for an afternoon snack. This place, E & O, was fantastic. It had received really high reviews and the atmosphere is fantastic. Highly recommend. We ended up ordering the Pu Pu Platter. Perfect choice for two people.
We walked around a bit more after that and around Union Square. Although the construction around that area is pretty intense right now. Then Ryan wanted to take me to Hops & Hominy. He had been there before and knew I would like it. The atmosphere alone is worth dropping in for. Darling and a great place for an evening cocktail.
We have officially decided that our next place . . . whenever that may be . . .will have an aged brick wall somewhere. I just love this look. They combined this look with reclaimed floors, great lighting throughout and subway tile. Such a dreamy ambiance.
After that we headed back to our hotel to change for our anniversary dinner. Ryan surprised me with reservations at Epic right on the water. It’s an outstanding restaurant and the food was out of this world. Also a great spot to pop in for a cocktail in the upstairs bar if you are not dining. There is a cute balcony with a great view of the bridge. This place gets five stars for sure!
After dinner, we were treated to the most gorgeous and delicious Creme Brulee! So so good. We stayed at The W Hotel that night and couldnt’ wait to meet up with all of our friends in Napa.
Travel Tip: We needed a rental car but instead of getting one at the airport, we took at taxi to our hotel and ordered one there. It was fantastic. No long lines or taking shuttles to the rental car place. They pulled up the car and we drove off. Highly recommend renting a car that way if you don’t need it right away. Much much easier. And with coffee in hand we were off to the adventures in Napa! Stay tuned for that recap!
San Francisco is one of our very favorite cities. So thankful to have celebrated our 12 years of marriage with a great day in the city. It was magical just to have time for the two of us.
I am now off to Sonoma for the #MichaelsMakers Summit. And no big surprise that I will be taking this pink dress and of course my black travel dress on the trip. This bag is also coming along for the ride. And starting tonight at midnight, you can get 10% off and free shipping. Use code SANTAJULY. The one I am carrying above {with a zipper and a ton of pockets} is the Savannah tote. You can customize your own design. Highly recommend!
Want to see more of San Francisco? I did a very comprehensive wrap up of our two day trip with the family.

I love that you love San Francisco. I grew up in the Bay Area and San Francisco is my home, and I love your posts on it. You do it such justice!! Let me know next time you are up here and I will give you some great local shopping, dining, and “non-touristy” touristy things to do!

My husband & I are traveling to San Francisco for the first time in October. We will arrive early Thursday and will leave that Monday. We are meeting up with another couple for Friday, Saturday & Sunday to spend time in Napa. Any suggestions on where to stay (or what area to stay in) & things to do in the short time we will be there? We will fly in to the San Francisco airport & will not have a rental car.

Yay! Of course, I knew every spot you were at and thought “awwwww, she’s there!” or “awww, they are there!”. This is my town! 🙂 And next time I’d love to meet you for coffee or some shopping.
