Small Space: Grouping of Frames

November 17, 2010 by Courtney 24 Comments

Our downstairs bathroom was a joint effort by my hubby and me. He put up the beautiful bead board and baseboards and I painted {I am always the painter!}. I wanted the color to be rich and warm to offset the white woodwork and granite countertop. We used “round up” by Dunn Edwards and I love it. In the space above the chair rail I knew I wanted to use  a grouping of frames, but I also wanted to have an overall calm and warm look. So I used matching frames from Aaron Brothers and we printed out all of the photographs in sepia. I really like they way they compliment the colors in the space. The photographs are especially meaningful to us as they each represent a place we have traveled to together. IMG_8049 IMG_8034IMG_8044 IMG_8045IMG_8053 As you can see, the space is super hard to photograph because it’s not very big! Excuse the random photo of me trying to get better shots!  Next project is ripping down the awful mirror. Any ideas for what we should do? Linking it Up: Tuesday:   My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia

What a pretty space Courtney. I'll bet my bathroom is smaller than yours 🙂 As for the mirror, Janell framed hers and it looks great.

I love grouping pictures, too. I really like the color you chose – very warm and cozy. I can totally understand the difficulty photographing a small bathroom. You should have seen some of the positions I had to get in to photograph ours! It was like a game of Twister to try and not take my reflection in the mirror- "ok, bend over the toilet, left hand on opposite wall right hand take picture, left foot on other wall to brace you from falling…"

This is so pretty! Love your color. I would love to do ours like that but we have no window in there so it'd be very dark.

I'm always the painter to, haha! You guys did a fantastic job…good team work : ) Hmmm…I don't really have any advice on the mirror, but can't wait to see what you do with it!

Oh, so pretty! Love the frame grouping. Instead of tearing down the whole mirror, you could try one of those mirror frames… I think they're called Mirror Mate?

Wow- so impressed that y'all did the beadboard and trim yourself! The frames are perfectly spaced! What a wonderful idea to use pictures of places you've been to add the special touch. Are those photos you took or did you print them from your computer??

Beautiful grouping…and love that they represent places you love. I'm totally cracking up at you crouched down…I've SO done that!

I framed my bathroom vanities with mirredge…sold online from Home Depot. It looks like the mirror is framed with a beveled mirror edge. It might be a good interim fix for you if you really want it replaced.

Well, everyone's said it…but I'd just frame out the mirror, too! There are some great examples floating around in blogland (: And you're right about the sepia tone totally complimenting the color on the walls. Great job, Courtney

I love it! The grouping of pictures adds a nice touch. I love using pictures throughout the home that have meaning. I too would love to do something with the mirrors in our bathrooms upstairs. They framed the one downstairs with this beautiful chunky frame, but left the ones upstairs plain! Go figure. Oh, what we'll do for the perfect shot. LOL

Oh I love how warm and cozy the space is! It is like the perfect cozy fall room!!! I really love the photos too and the sentimental value is so precious!!! The framed F is so cute too! I could go on and on.
Oh and I think a pretty ornate mirror painted white would be fantastic to replace the one there now.

    Luvs!

I have been wanting to do a grouping of photos like that in our master bedroom. I think it's so special to add photos around the house that have meaning. Great job on the project. 🙂 And I love that wall color. So rich and pretty.

Hi Rachel. I tried to reply to you, but couldn't! Those blinds are such a great little secret. That window is more narrow than most and is lightly frosted, so I really only need them for texture. It's a $10 blind from Ikea. You can trim the sides to fit what you need. There is no hardware. I simply nailed my up into the top of the window. Then I rolled it to where I wanted it to fall and tied it with some twine. Hope that helps a little.
